I was very grateful to be invited to give a keynote talk at #CHIIR2024 in Sheffield, UK, on the HCI Perspective on IR. These were the slides I presented, which includes a look back at the history between CHI and SIGIR, CHIIR's roots, my experience at the time, and then challenges I see for the community.
