When most people say that they want a beer they mean a lager beer. A fairly light, slightly bitter and not too strong one. We’re not saying that that’s wrong. We love a good lager as much as the next guy. However, it is limiting. Beer can be so much more. That’s why we’re having the event Öl = Cocktail or Beer = Cocktail at our bar Pils on February 22. To help broaden everyone’s perception. How does a Mezcal barrel-aged ginger and lemon sour spiced up with Ancho chilis and grape fruit peel, served up in a cocktail glass with a garnish of dried Blood orange sound? More complicated than a lager? For sure. But then again, we did all the hard work. All you have to do is enjoy it. Help expand the realms of beer. If in town, come on down. Surprise yourself by letting us surprise you.

Drink, or Beverage? In the UK we say drinks machine, in the US they say beverage machine. Got me thinking, where does the name beverage come from..? The word beverage comes from the French word bevrage and was first used in the Middle English period (1150–1500). The earliest known use of the word is in Robert of Gloucester's Chronicle from 1297. The word beverage may also come from the Latin word bibere, which means "to drink". The surname Beveridge is a Scottish variant of the word beverage. It may have been used to describe someone who was fond of drink or who supplied it. The surname may also have been used to describe someone who was customarily paid to seal a bargain with a drink. In medieval society, it was common to seal a bargain with a drink. What about a bevy - normally a beer? What about a bevy of beauties? A group of attractive women normally seen after a few bevvies🍻🍻 I like the word beverage.

Today is apparently International Beer Day, so let's celebrate with a debate.... How detailed do you go when ordering a beer? Do you say lager, pale ale, IPA? How about for other drinks, for rum, do you specify dark or spiced rum, or do you say rum? Or do you go as far to say the brand name? For gin, do you say pink gin or beefeater pink gin? Not to mention is it soda or tonic?! Whatever your preference, the person next to you will have a different approach, this is something to consider when collecting your data in a team. Agree at the start what the one format will be to ensure consistency. Need a helping hand? Susan Walsh - The Classification Guru can talk you through the COAT Framework for a consistent approach. 𝗗𝗼 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝘆𝗽𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗽𝗛 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲? A little bit of practical knowledge at the end of the day to celebrate German Beer Day: We measured it once with our Portavo and a pH sensor SE555 and show here our measurement results for different beers: • a dark beer from Berlin • a wheat beer from southern Germany and a • alcohol-free Pilsner from northern Germany. 𝗙𝗮𝘇𝗶𝘁: There are differences, but they are not very big. 𝗛𝗼𝘄𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿, 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗼𝗼 𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗺 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴.😜 This is not great for enjoyment, but this doesn't matter for the measurement, because the Portavo transmitter compensates for the temperature to determine the correct pH value. Let's celebrate a drink with a very long tradition. Cheers! #beer #ph #reinheitsgebot #germanbeerday

The trend towards low-alcohol and mid-strength beers continues to grow. Light or small beer, once a medieval necessity, has found a new purpose in the modern era. Its low alcohol content, reduced calories, and refreshing taste make it an attractive option for today’s health-conscious consumers. But with so much terminology floating around what exactly is a 'light' beer? Are Light Beer, Small Beer and Table Beer the same thing? https://lnkd.in/dmeNv3UP

Saving the Session for people who don't want beer with These Days, the Session Spritz 🍑 *Raising via EIS* | Co-Founder, ex-Seedlip, 10yrs in Drinks, love a good pub.
If it walks like a beer, if it talks like a beer, then it must be a beer... Right? 🍻 Stick with me, gang. A These Days Session Spritz is a lot like a beer. Sessionable. Refreshing. On tap. But it doesn't taste like a beer. It's fruit-led, juicy, dry & slightly bitter. It gives the same feeling of a beer, just delivered in a different taste. Why do I make this point? Well, the feeling of a beer is ace. It's the ultimate session drink. But what if you don't like beer? What if you find it too long, too bloaty or too bitter? That session occasion, that ultimate refreshment moment shouldn't just be reserved for beer. So we're creating a new category. The Session Spritz. For all non-beer drinkers, this is your Session Saviour... (Feat. extra pretty tap badges from the boy Alex Beausire)
