I love the direction we're going with Collaborative Combat Aircraft. It has the opportunity to be a great force multiplier and is the result of great curiosity, innovation, and imagination. Gen Allvin stated "if we do not embrace that a key part of future warfighting is going to be mastering human-machine teaming, human-machine integration—if we don’t get that right—I think we have an uphill fight" And it's not just for the fighter jet force... human-machine teaming/integration will become a central component to all Air Force operations. Defense subcontractors often face challenges when dealing with major weapons firms. The government typically engages large prime contractors such as Lockheed Martin and Raytheon for military projects, sidelining smaller businesses. Despite this, prime contractors outsource a significant portion—between 60 and 70 percent—of Pentagon contract work. While the government offers favorable payment terms and contract financing to prime contractors, there's limited oversight regarding how these primes treat their subcontractors, especially small businesses. In a notable turn, Anduril, a seven-year-old startup, has secured a major US Air Force contract, beating out established defense giants like Boeing, Lockheed, and Northrop Grumman. Why this sudden transformation? Simple: it has not been sudden; decades of lessons-learned regarding improved level of detail, reusability, visibility, preventing defects instead of testing and correcting defects, and significantly lower costs with improved mission effectiveness are behind this shift.”

FLRAA is not intended to take the place of Black Hawk on a 1-to-1 basis.
