Whether someone is new to animal welfare or a seasoned shelter professional, our resources and tips offer accessible learning that will help improve the lives of shelter animals! The content was curated from an audit of thousands of pages and intended to be comprehensive and yet not overwhelming (as it could have easily included a hundred potential resources). Driven by compassion, transparency, and leadership, Socially Conscious Animal Communities (SCAC) recognize the power of working together. While the cornerstone of SCAC is Socially Conscious Sheltering, companion animals thrive when people from all walks of life lend their knowledge and experience to supporting animal welfare, nurturing the human-animal bond and fostering safe, inclusive, and humane communities. The Association for Animal Welfare Advancement has taken on this initiative and SCAC has become an international model of best practice and success. SCS takes the arbitrary numbers out of the equation so that you can focus on what really matters- the people and animals in your community. Lifesaving animal shelter policy: - Do not impound eartipped community cats. They are already home outdoors and have been spayed or neutered. - If a non-eartipped community cat is impounded, immediately practice #TNR. Community cats are generally not adoptable and are extremely stressed in a shelter environment. TNR is the only humane, effective approach. Learn more at https://lnkd.in/eWymq-7z
