Exciting News Alert! 🚀 In a time where good news is scarce, here's a BIG one! 🌐 For the first time EVER, Aleph Farms has received regulatory approval for its cultivated beef cuts in Israel! This makes Israel the third county in the world to approve cultivated meat. 🎉 This marks a monumental milestone, not only for our local ecosystem but for the global one as well. We, at The Good Food Institute Israel have actively collaborated with the Ministry of Health, Innovation Authority, the Prime Minister's Office, and others to support the local ecosystem, both financially and regulatory. 💡 When it comes to cutting-edge, deep-tech innovations like #cultivatedmeat, the government's familiarity with the ecosystem, its challenges, the underlying science is crucial and benefits to national food security, fighting climate change and boosting economy. Special thanks to the Israeli National Food Services and especially Ziva Hamama, Ph.D. for their openness, willingness to learn, and exploration of new novel food technologies. 🌍 I truly believe that exciting times lie ahead for the global and local alternative proteins ecosystem, shaping the future of our global food system. #Innovation #AlternativeProteins #FoodTech #milestoneachieved

Today’s food systems are asked to nourish the world’s growing population in ways that do no harm to either human or planetary health. However, the growing problems facing food systems now amount to a twofold crisis. First, global progress in addressing malnutrition in all its forms (including undernutrition, obesity and micronutrient deficiencies) and reducing diet-related diseases has stalled. Food systems are failing to provide affordable healthy diets for three billion people (FAO, IFAD, UNICED, WFP W 2020). This affects their health, the mental and physical development of children, and the earning potential of those children throughout their lives. Those affected risk being locked into lifelong inequality. Second, food systems are in a spiral of decline with environmental systems (Global Panel on Agriculture and Food Systems for Nutrition 2020a): they are a major cause of worsening degradation of soil, water and air quality, biodiversity loss and climate change. Moreover, although food systems have generally responded to the challenges posed by COVID-19, the pandemic has highlighted just how fragile and precarious the world’s food systems have become.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) leads the global response to antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in the food and agriculture sectors. To guide its response to the numerous challenges of AMR, FAO is following the FAO Action Plan on Antimicrobial Resistance 2021–2025. The first report on FAO’s contribution to the global response to AMR outlines a wide range of activities undertaken by FAO at global, regional and country level. This report: - describes FAO’s role in the global governance of AMR; - provides an overview of progress on implementing national action plans on AMR in agrifood systems; - highlights key activities undertaken to implement the FAO Action Plan on AMR 2021–2025; and - flags key challenges and opportunities related to AMR in the food and agriculture sectors. #publication #fao #unitednations #AMR #report

To tackle food insecurity, we must embrace a holistic approach that prioritizes better environment, better nutrition, better living, and better production. These interconnected elements form the foundation for sustainable solutions. A healthy environment supports productive agriculture, nutritious food enhances health, improved living conditions uplift communities, and efficient production systems ensure food availability for all. By focusing on these pillars, we can build resilient food systems and ensure a food-secure future for everyone. #InTheNews | The Political Battle Over Lab-Grown Meat in Europe: The Controversial Future of Food. «The greater risk to farmers is that their rage, and the politics it produces, will choke off the policymaking aimed at addressing the problems that afflict them. Technological trends and consumer preferences can only be held off for so long. The question is what farmers — and the EU — should be doing to adapt.» #LabGrownDebate #RedMeatMyth #BioLabLessons #FoodInnovation #AltProtein #SyntheticMeat #EUAgriPolitics #FarmVsLab #CultivatedMeat #ProteinRevolution [News] https://lnkd.in/d4U3tjXK via POLITICO [Infographic] https://lnkd.in/dz-FyDQC via World Economic Forum

Freedom of choice depends on accurate information. Help stop the erosion of choice in food. The big agro businesses want to stop you having choices - help to stop them taking away our freedom! We Europeans have made it clear, time and time again, that we don’t want GMOs in our food. Yet, some political groups are teaming up with big agro-industry to allow them into our food without us knowing where they are used. Say no to New GMOs. Sign our petition at https://lnkd.in/gZHfy2a4
