We are at the AWHE (Arizona Women in Higher Education) Confenrence and it’s Day 1. Which means that we led 2 Story Focused breakout sessions: 1. Building your strategic “why” story 2. Future Casting: building the stories of tomorrow So how did it go? Participants rated our sessions as… ✅9.3 (out of 10) on helping them crafts stories ✅9.3 (out of 10) on helping them articulate their stories ✅8.9 (out of 10) on helping them share their stories We only had 45 minutes for each session and as always…we tried to cram a lot in those 45 minutes while still giving time for people to build stories. So naturally, we ran out of time for the magic of sharing and feedback on stories. One participant said “umm I was obsessed with this breakout session. I WILL take this back to work with me” For us, there is nothing f better than know what we share with folks is instantly applicable and helpful in their lives! Yay for stories!! And Leadership/Director/Executive can look a lot of ways--in corporate, in education, in non-profit, in your own business, in your household, in your community. You are welcome here. Q: What if I'm not entirely sure if I'm neurodivergent, can I still join? A: Yes! Ember welcomes folks who are rooted in their neurodivergent identity all the way through folks who are just learning about the word neurodivergent. You are welcome here. Q: What about trans women, are we welcome? A: Yes! Absolutely!! Women are women. "Women and LGBTQIA2S" includes all the historically excluded genders. You are welcome here. 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙚 𝙥𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧? . . I often ask myself the meaning of true empowerment! Is it mere 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲? 𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐟𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐦 ? 𝐀𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐬𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐬? No!! . . This came thought came to my mind after seeing a recent example of women leadership. Representing women in leadership role is not enough, giving them the actual leadership power is the real empowerment! . . We see a lot if examples in our day-to-day life where we see pseudo empowerment . . True empowerment goes beyond slogans, emphasizing systemic changes, education, and dismantling ingrained biases.
