Namibia has a heavy rare earths operation that produces 2,000 tons per year of rare earth oxides and has rich deposits of two of the most valuable heavy rare earth metals—dysprosium and terbium. DRC is playing a significant role in the world's production of cobalt, copper,and tantalum. Africa has a rich potential to contribute significantly to global energy transition. Demand for Lithium is mostly driven by demand for electrical vehicles. #Responsible supply chains are critical in this sector.

The Longonjo mine, a $250 million project, contains substantial deposits of rare earth minerals, including neodymium and praseodymium, which are crucial for the production of electric vehicles and wind turbines. Pensana aims for the mine to supply approximately 5% of the world's neodymium and praseodymium demand.

🇨🇮The Council of Ministers adopts the establishment of the Salon International des Ressources Extractives et Energétiques (SIREXE) At its meeting on April 17, 2023, the Council of Ministers, under the supervision of the Ministry of Mines, Petroleum and Energy, took a major decision by approving the creation of the Salon International des Ressources Extractives et Energétiques (SIREXE). This ambitious and innovative initiative aims to consolidate recent advances in Côte d'Ivoire's natural resources sector, notably the significant discoveries of oil and gas deposits. SIREXE, a leading promotional platform, will establish itself as a must-attend event for national and international players in the sector. It will be held every two years, over a period of five consecutive days, offering a space conducive to exchange, collaboration, and the development of investment opportunities. The inaugural edition of SIREXE is scheduled from November 27 to December 2, 2024, at the prestigious Parc d'Exposition in Abidjan. Under the theme "Sustainable development of the extractive and energy industries: what policies and strategies?", this first edition will highlight major national and sub-regional priority projects in the mining, oil and energy sectors.🇨🇮
