🌟 Today we start with unboxing the panels of our eCommemoration Convention 2024! Our first panel on 26 September is “Virtual Environments. Experiencing Historical Landscapes in Open World Games”. 🌏 Digital media dealing with history provides users with access to rendered historical worlds and allows them to experience an atmospheric past. The panel investigates the impact that historical open world games have on our notion of history by giving players the opportunity to explore past worlds “on their own feet”. As speakers we are more than happy to welcome Deborah Papiernik, who has been working with Ubisoft for 25 years, holding various positions in Game Development, Marketing and Business Development, and Dr. Marc Bonner, Post Doc in Game Studies and Media Studies, who lead the project “Open World Structures: Architecture, City- and Landscape in Computer Games” at the University of Cologne. The whole panel will be complemented and moderated by the amazing Nora Beyer, games journalist and jury member of the German Computer Games Award. Various panels, hands-on digital experiences, and creative exchanges will once again form the core of our two-day international and interdisciplinary convention, taking place on 26 and 27 September 2024, in Hamburg. The eCommemoration Convention will be live-streamed so everyone can join us online and from abroad! 🌐 On the first day you can also join us in Hamburg for our open-to-the-public events! 👉 Stay tuned, more panels will be reveled in the next days! #GoodNews ♠ The "Yosephinum", a new experience center for the interactive discovery of the history of gaming, is being built in Altenburg for around 24.69 million euros! As things stand, the new tourist magnet is scheduled for completion in summer 2027. The high-profile project is being funded with around 14.9 million euros from GRW funds. 💬 Wolfgang Tiefensee "The Yosephinum will not only revive Altenburg's historical gaming tradition, but will also set a new standard in the national and international exhibition and museum world thanks to interactive technologies and refreshing concepts. As a result, it will play an important role in Thuringia's cultural offering and at the same time boost the local economy.“ ♦ The idea for the project is based on Altenburg's rich gaming tradition, which stretches back 500 years. The “Spieleerlebniswelt Altenburg” (Altenburg Games Experience) follows the leitmotif "Gaming is a dialog with the world" and presents the topic in a multi-perspective way. Specifically, the project is based on three pillars: a multimedia experience exhibition with exhibits and experiments on the subject of games, a game lounge for social gaming directly on site and an InnovationLAB as a multifunctional space for corporate event formats, in which interactive and game-based approaches are used. ♣ Visitors have the opportunity to choose from carefully curated offers that cater to different needs and expectations. Multimedia presentations, personal tours, events and self-guided tours through the 20 gaming spaces offer a diverse experience. The aim is to create a place of exchange, learning and play that presents the history and future of gaming in a unique way, captivating visitors from young to old. 📸 Patrick Daxenbichler|istock.com #legthueringen #thuringia #invest #altenburg Thüringer Ministerium für Wirtschaft, Wissenschaft & Digitale Gesellschaft ASS Altenburger Spielkarten - Ein Herz für Karten

Hi, this is Aliaksey Charahovich from the Krakow Congress Center. Digital Dragons is over, but after the event I'm full of energy and ideas. How could it be otherwise? Congress Center has become a very special place these days. First some numbers :) The conference lasted 3 days, during which time we managed to: Walk more than 68,000 steps Take 67 selfies with representatives of various companies, services and cool indie projects Get 33 business cards Hand out about a hundred of my own Sit at a table in the Business Zone 12 times Add 17 people to Telegram Add over 200 people to LinkedIn It was our first visit to Digital Dragons and I didn't know what to expect from the conference, considering that GameDev is not developing as fast as it was two years ago. But the conference was big and busy. All the booths offered jobs and merch, and many of them had raffles with cool and rare prizes (for example, MoonActive Ltd gave away a PlayStation5, Creepy Jar gave away bars and tea from their own recipe, Activision and Playtika gave away delicious coffee, and Anshar Studios Inc. gave away vinyl records with music from their games). The atmosphere was amazing! Of course, the conference was not limited to booths and meetings. There were lots of cool speakers on topics ranging from legal issues and intellectual property to design, mechanics and marketing. Huge thanks to Innowacyjna Małopolska, Krakowski Park Technologiczny | Krakow Technology Park for such a cool conference and to all its partners, among which hopefully next year will be HireForYou.Pro. A special hello and thanks for organizing the event: Creepy Jar, Intel Corporation, Larian Studios, Moon Active, Rage Quit Games, Techland, 11 bit studios S.A., Playtika, Artifex Mundi, Dell Technologies, Frozen Way, Virtuos, Anshar Studios Inc., Flying Wild Hog, Fool's Theory, Futuregames Warsaw, PCC Polska, Shockbyte, Valve corporation If I didn't get a chance to meet you at the conference, I'd like to now! The next place we could meet is WN in Istanbul! See you there on 11-12 of June! #DigitalDragons #DigitalDragons2024 #Krakow #GameDev #Conference #WN2024 #Istanbul

“As I wandered through the exhibition ‘Difference Machines: Technology and Identity in Contemporary Art,’ my mind felt like it had been hit by several lightning strikes. This exhibition…showcases the work of 17 artists who have been working in digital spaces for decades, focusing on how the digital world has impacted our collective sense of identities, from race and gender to the surveillance state. But what struck me were the artists using video games in their work. For decades, debates have raged over the role of video games in society: Are they art? Are they dangerous? Meanwhile, artists have been using video games in their work. Some artists create actual video games; others record films within a video game, creating movies called machinima…” Link to WIRED article is here - https://bit.ly/3S5nWDh Link to get tickets is here - https://bit.ly/2RwW1eC “Difference Machines: Technology and Identity in Contemporary Art” is extended by popular demand through January 27, 2024. We are open Saturdays 10 am-5 pm through January 27.

AMUG Conference: AM Users Sharing Experiences and Initiating Collaborations (via Design World) "On the surface, the AMUG event may appear to be just another AM conference with an exposition. But that illusion is dismissed the moment you enter. The vibe, the content, the discourse, and the agenda are distinctly unique from all others." https://lnkd.in/gNqvpz8f #AMUG #ForUsersByUsers #AMUG2024

As Paris prepares to host the world for the Summer Olympics, they’re also preparing to share their transition from car-city to people-city. This story is told through an immersive exhibition inside City Hall, which inspires visitors to consider what’s possible in their own city. Transformational projects Paris has undertaken in the past decade—like the pedestrianization of the south bank of the Seine, construction of 550 km of cycle paths, and establishment of 205 School Streets—are documented using graphics, videos, and powerful before-and-after images: https://lnkd.in/eZEpY6bH.

Lecturer in Creative Computing ✦ PhD in Algorithmic Worlding ✦ Immersive Storytelling ✦ XR ✦ Experimental Gameworlds ✦ Interactive Design ✦ Ai Entanglements
Excited to be in Lisbon tomorrow to contribute to the “Towards an Automated Art? Learning Machines, Human Creativity and Uncertainty” international conference. As an extension of my research project on practices of worlding with immersive and volumetric rendering technologies, I’ll be addressing the evolution of the game engine into an emergent media infrastructure producing new algorithmic visualities across macro scales that move beyond the domain of games. Reflecting on the tensions between the visuality of simulations and the blackboxed networks that underpin them, my presentation will seek to trouble the engine aesthetic by situating coded interactions as relational (rather than simply automated) processes, highlighting the poetic, agential and speculative possibilities of the networks that inhabit these algorithmic infrastructures. Absolutely brilliant. It’s an act of sheer creativity. An advertising video that strikes directly at the tender heart of every parent, blending the enchantment of fairytales with the tangible advancements of modern technology. This approach realizes and illustrates children's dreams, making them come alive in a way that echoes our own amazement with technological progress. It not only mirrors the aspirations of young ones by turning fantasies into reality but also highlights the technological marvels that make such magic possible. The origin of this pioneering spirit is a testament to Israeli pride, firmly rooted in the distinguished Hebrew University.
