I partner with companies to accelerate growth through strategic, innovative recruitment and people solutions, ensuring achievement of your business objectives | CEO Axia Recruitment & Axia Property Group Buyers Agents
Today I am excited to be heading to the University of Tasmania to chat with a cohort of students studying in the accounting field. If you could pass on one piece of advice to a student in regards to next steps post-graduation and/or during their studies to better their employment aspects what would it be? Mine will be to gain as much real life working experience as possible. This includes directly in line with their studies as well as general working experience. There are so many really promising students who miss out on roles purely due to their lack of 'real' working experience. Share your advice below! #AxiaRecruitment #candidateadvice #recruitment #UTAS

Professor of Philosophy at the Institute of Religion and Critical Inquiry (odd, right?) at Australian Catholic University. Independent Researcher.
What would Aquinas think of salaries paid by our universities? Aquinas teaches us, "Things which are of human right cannot derogate from natural right or Divine right. Now according to the natural order established by Divine Providence, inferior things are ordained for the purpose of succoring man’s needs by their means. Wherefore the division and appropriation of things which are based on human law, do not preclude the fact that man’s needs have to be remedied by means of these very things. Hence whatever certain people have in superabundance is due, by natural law, to the purpose of succoring the poor." I'm not Catholic, but I work for a university that is. Aquinas's vision might be summarised like this. The world was given by God to humanity for its benefit. Of course, owing to our history and human law, these goods, which are the birthright of each person, often will not reach those who own it. Thus, if someone has material goods that meet no need (think about the people paid over a million a year by a university), this is not their property. These goods literally belong to those who have needs not met that God intended to be the ones who have their needs met by means of these goods and the acts of virtuous people. It is odd that the moral discussions at our universities tend to focus on sexual ethics or end of life care and ignore completely the easily remedied problem that comes with paying people seven figure salaries. That moral problem seems easily remedied.
