This course has been designed specifically for: -beginning teachers and experienced teachers who are teaching HSC Legal Studies for the first time. -teachers who may have already taught Legal Studies in the past but who need a refresher course. -teachers who intend to teach Legal Studies in the near future. student teachers who are studying how to teach Legal Studies. This course will focus on the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) HSC Legal Studies syllabuses and look at: -effective teaching and learning strategies designed to engage students. -programming ideas. -assessment procedures and techniques. -useful teaching and learning resources. The course will be presented by experienced teachers who will share their own experiences during their challenging early years of teaching and how they coped. NZLSA is proud to publish the results of its second National Education and Wellbeing Survey, with support from The College of Law New Zealand. Last Friday, NZLSA celebrated the launch of the survey report in front of students, academics, and members of the profession. After speaking to over 1,300 law students, we have collated a significant amount of data and insights into what students think about legal education and more. NZLSA hopes that the results of this survey are used by faculties, educators, regulators and the wider profession to understand more about the concerns of students. While the report highlights clear areas to work on, we can see that legal education has a bright future as it grows and adapts. NZLSA will continue to work through the detailed results obtained and continue to advocate on behalf of the 9,774 law students in Aotearoa.

📚Recently published: 'Teaching for impact'❗ This book offers teachers, course and curriculum designers, and policy makers in academic legal education a theoretical foundation as a basis for their educational efforts. Furthermore, it proposes practical models and appropriate instructional interventions for the integration of critical thinking, creative thinking, ACT responsibility and play and playfulness in the everyday practice of legal education. Today’s global society – with its fast technological developments, unlimited choice, uncertainty and complexity – requires new knowledge, dispositions and abilities from academically educated legal professionals. This challenges academic legal education to reconsider its theoretical foundations, aims, curriculum and pedagogy. This research by Hedwig van Rossum explores how educators in legal education can contribute to the academic development of law students in contemporary times. A reinterpretation of the 19th century educational ideal of Bildung – which entails critical thinking, creative thinking, ACT responsibility and play and playfulness – is proposed as central to legal education’s academic core.
