It’s not just about how good you are, It’s about how good you are in the position and circumstances you are in! Olympic gymnastics scoring works by using 3 different panel of judges looking at 3 different aspects of the candidate. D-Panel: Calculates the Difficulty score E- Panel: Calculates the Execution score Reference panel : Corrects any problems with the Execution score. In short, It’s not only the Candidates performance in it of itself, but it’s also their performance within the set circumstance and difficulty of that performance that adds or subtracts to their total score. As EMS Communications supervisors and directors, we should be evaluating each dispatcher’s ability to execute covering their board not only when its routine, but when its difficult and the circumstances are not optimal, (periods of higher-than-expected emergency call volume at a specific time or in a specific region, staffing shortages, delayed turn outs ect. ). In evaluating several Commercial EMS agencies, I’ve come to realize that unfortunately, many agencies only look at “lost calls” as a determining factor for evaluating dispatchers. Some even have systems set up to look at lost calls specifically ONLY. In essence, a Dispatcher can make heroin Olympic gold moves and capture 5 calls in the hour leading up to this lost call, and will still be seen by their supervisor and director as one that lost a call! That is why here at Richmond County Ambulance we have enacted a culture of “captured calls” with the mindset of “ No calls left behind”, We always evaluate both aspects. I’m proud of our team and can honestly say that they are the Olympic GOLD winners in the commercial EMS services!

𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐍𝐞𝐝𝐨𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐤 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐬𝐦𝐮𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐨𝐦𝐚 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 2024 𝐎𝐥𝐲𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐬 🤸 Stephen Nedoroscik has made headlines at the 2024 Olympic Games by bringing much-needed awareness to strabismus and coloboma. On July 29, his remarkable performance on the pommel horse helped the US men’s gymnastics team secure a bronze medical. 👀 Nedoroscik competes with both strabismus – a condition where one eye may be misaligned or move intermittently—and coloboma, a condition where part of the eye’s structure doesn’t fully develop, leading to heightened light sensitivity. These conditions, while relatively common, have rarely received such mainstream attention. 🎙️ According to Terri A. Gossard, OS, MS, national medical director of clinical integration for EyeCare Partners, Nedoroscik’s success is a testament to the power of practice and visualization. Gossard explains, “Strabismus can vary from subtle to noticeable, and in Stephen’s case, he can choose which eye to use for fixation.” 👁 Coloboma, which affects the eye’s formation during development, adds another layer of challenge. Nedoroscik’s ability to perform at such a high level despite his heightened light sensitivity is nothing short of extraordinary. 🏆 Stephen Nedoroscik’s achievements at the Olympics are not just a personal triumph but a significant moment in raising awareness about these ocular conditions.

Why I ALWAYS install a pull-up bar to my home!? Because I’m too LAZY to go the gym. So instead, I springle little exercise instruments around my home (like a trampoline, gymnastics ball, pull-up bar etc.)! 💪 When it’s made this easy, there is no excuse to not to use them. 😎 Do you have any work-out instruments available in your home?! Share your thoughts in the comments. ✌️ . . . #home #training #simplefits #simplereminders #body #workout

Wonderful piece this week from Jessica Taylor Price in MIT Technology Review - looking at how AI is now involved in gymnastic scoring. There are obvious upsides to using this kind of technology in competition. Human gymnastics judges must have an eye for quick, tiny movements: the point of a toe, the angle of a split (did she hit 180?), the slightest bend at the hip. AI could help take the guesswork out of the technicalities. At the same time, others fear AI judging will take away something that makes gymnastics special. Gymnastics is a subjective sport, like diving or dressage, where factors like nationality, body type, the location of a judge’s chair, and vague concepts like “artistry” and “performance” affect scores. Read on here - and check out the fabulous art. https://lnkd.in/eFb83pPH

What is committed at high energy level, continuing that at low energy level is a challenge.
Author of 5 #1 NYT/WSJ bestsellers, early-stage investor, host of The Tim Ferriss Show podcast (1B+ downloads), and collector of the strange.
Schedule (and, if possible, pay for) things in advance to prevent yourself from backing out. I’ve applied this to early morning AcroYoga sessions, late-night gymnastics training, archery lessons, etc. Make commitments in a high-energy state so that you can’t back out when you’re in a low-energy state.

U.S. Men's Olympic Gymnast, Stephen Nedoroscik, has an inspiring story that serves as a great reminder to marketers about why marketing can be so misunderstood. Stephen Nedoroscik, studying electrical engineering, specializes solely in the pommel horse for the U.S. Men's Gymnastics team. He doesn't compete in any other event but the pommel horse, and he's amazing at it! Take a look at the video included in the article. But the reminder to marketing isn't just that he was the last man to compete in the team final, helping clinch the Bronze medal for the U.S. — marking the first Olympic medal for the U.S. Gymnastics team in 16 years! The reminder lies in why he takes his glasses off before he competes and quickly reaches for them right after. He has a condition that renders his eyes permanently dilated. When he takes his glasses off to compete, he shares that he doesn't need to "see" when he performs on the pommel horse; "It's all by feel." In today's data-driven world, marketers should be reminded that what we do is both an "art and a science." Not only do we need to "see" the data and results of what we do—"the science" behind marketing—but we should also be reminded of the "feel" or "art" of what we do, which involves creativity, making emotional connections and experiences, and influencing purchases. Just as Stephen Nedoroscik competes "all by feel," let's not forget the "feel" of what we do as marketers. This aspect of marketing is often misunderstood, yet it plays a critical role in our work. Let's remember to balance both the "art and science" of marketing. #branding #artandscience #marketing https://lnkd.in/gjZTWhzN
