Great to contribute to this study in Glasgow City Region led by the OECD Centre for Entrepreneurship, SMEs, Regions & Cities, and to see the results out today. Really interesting analysis, exploring ways to enhance and future-proof the skills system locally, and optimise future economic performance and social prosperity through people. Great chance to enable devolution and to spread good practice across the UK. The study addressed 3 challenges in the skills system around how to: stimulate levels of re- and upskilling for adults; enhance labour market inclusion of the economically inactive; and strengthen school-to-work transitions of young people. https://lnkd.in/eAAnnTxt

🌍✨ Today, we celebrate World Youth Skills Day! Recognizing the importance of equipping young people with skills for employment, decent work, and entrepreneurship, this day highlights the crucial role of fostering youth empowerment and economic growth. Established by the United Nations in 2014, the World Youth Skills Day aims to enhance youth potential and address global unemployment issues through initiatives to encourage skill development and create awareness about the challenges and opportunities faced by young people worldwide. In Sierra Leone, the Employment Promotion Programme (EPP IV) has trained over 11,900 young people in vital skills like Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLAs), Agro-processing, Communication, Entrepreneurship, Beauty and Cosmetology, Solar Installation, and Hand-welding through practical courses lasting from 17 days to 6 weeks. This has resulted in the creation of 5,474 jobs and 5,098 self-employment opportunities! The Employment Promotion Programme (EPP IV) is co-financed by the European Commission and commissioned by the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development / Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ). #WorldYouthSkillsDay #YouthEmpowerment #SierraLeone #UnitedNations #GermanyinSalone #DevelopmentCooperation #EuropeanUnion #EmploymentPromotion

Such an important topic Global Partnership for Education I've been delving into what it is to be human in an increasingly AI world and a key element coming out of it for me is that we need to invest at least as much in human development as AI development
Has anyone seen investments in education? They should be here somewhere... GPE welcomes the #PactForTheFuture's statement of support for developing countries to increase investment in education and skills. But in this time of profound global transformation, it has missed an important opportunity to show how increased investments in education empower the next generation to drive the economies of the future and build a more peaceful and sustainable world. The United Nations General Assembly declared 15 July as World Youth Skills Day to celebrate the strategic importance of equipping young people with skills for employment, decent work, and entrepreneurship. The theme for World Youth Skills Day 2024 is "Youth Skills for Peace and Development", underscoring the crucial role young people play in peacebuilding and conflict resolution. "It is crucial to equip youth with the necessary skills to foster a culture of peace, nurture responsible global citizens, and promote sustainable development to build a more just, inclusive, and sustainable future for all. On World Youth Skills Day, let us unite in recognising young people's potential as agents of peace and commit to providing them with the skills and opportunities to address challenges and contribute to a peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable future." At EKOenergy, we do what we can to contribute to this objective. Did you know that, at our Secretariat, we continuously have 8-10 positions for young trainees and volunteers? Over the past 12 years, we have hosted over 150 young people from 29 countries. Each of our trainees and volunteers gets the opportunity to participate in the multifaceted activities of our non-profit ecolabel. They can learn about renewable energy, campaigning, project management, climate change, and much more. Because our volunteers and trainees come from many countries, they can also train their skills to cooperate with people who speak other languages and have different backgrounds. #worldyouthskillsday

Nearly 90% of students and families want diverse pathways toward careers, and many see career-connected learning opportunities starting in high school as a way to enable that. They understand that the current approach to education fundamentally needs to shift to meet the evolving economy. To equitably drive individual and community economic mobility, the country needs to unlock career pathways that lead to labor market-aligned credentials at scale. Leading communities that have equitably-scaled, high-quality pathways all have a common driving force: an organization that can bring together cross-sector actors around a common vision. Our latest report, KEYS TO SCALE: How to Grow the Impact of Education-to-Career Pathway Intermediaries, showcases those intermediary organizations that are functioning as key enablers for pathways scale, and identifies the infrastructure, investment, and support needed to catalyze this work in all communities across the U.S. Read the report: https://lnkd.in/gUDUPAXE

🌍✨ Today is World Youth Skills Day, a day dedicated to acknowledge the challenges faced by young people in the labour market and the importance of education and training in their success. Unfortunately, many young people, especially women, are struggling with unemployment, underemployment, and low-quality jobs. This is why education and skills training are crucial in empowering youth and bridging the gap in work inequalities. At Hyfa Foundation, we recognise the significance of financial skills in today's world. From budgeting to debt management, our workshops are designed to equip young individuals with the tools they need for a secure and prosperous future. We believe that financial education not only benefits individuals, but also has a positive impact on society as a whole. Confidence, independence, and opportunities are just some of the reasons why financial education matters. By providing young people with the knowledge and skills to make informed financial decisions, we are helping them build a brighter future for themselves. On World Youth Skills Day, we invite you to join us in celebrating and supporting the next generation. Whether you are a high-net-worth individual looking to make a difference or someone interested in our programmes, we would love to hear from you. Let's work together towards a world where all youth have the necessary skills to thrive and contribute to a sustainable future. 🤝💡 United Nations #WorldYouthSkillsDay #FinancialEducation #YouthEmpowerment #HyfaFoundation #InvestInYouth.

In the heart of our interconnected digital era, it is crucial to recognize the transformative potential of digital technology in amplifying social development and sustainable innovation. The interplay between these critical domains has the capacity to reshape public policy, education, and human resource development, particularly in the context of vocational education. A recent study I have been involved in unveiled a fascinating correlation: countries that have adopted digital tools into their educational strategies, especially vocational education, are witnessing a surge in skill development and human resource capabilities. These countries are not only advancing technologically but are also fostering social development at an accelerated pace. Yet, the question remains: "How can other nations, particularly those still grappling with development issues, harness this potential effectively?" The answer lies in the right blend of public policy reforms, entrepreneurship, and educational frameworks. This underscores the importance of integrating digital development into education policies, not just as an add-on but as a fundamental pillar. As we move forward, we must ask ourselves - "Are we utilizing the full potential of digital development in our education policies? Are we truly preparing our future generations for a world that is increasingly becoming digital?" I believe that the next wave of sustainable innovation will hinge on how we respond to these questions today. It is an exciting time to be part of this discourse, and I am looking forward to engaging in more insightful dialogues on this topic. #DigitalDevelopment #EducationPolicy #PublicPolicy #SocialDevelopment #SustainableInnovation
