Micron Technology's ambitious plan to build a $100 billion chip-making plant in Clay has hit a snag. The U.S. Commerce Department's slow progress on the project has slowed down the wheels of progress. Announced in October 2022, nearly two years after Congress agreed to give $39 billion to semiconductor companies to bring manufacturing back to the U.S., Micron is still waiting to hear how much it will receive to move forward. Micron has said that without billions from the federal CHIPS and Science Act, it can't go forward. This investment in domestic chip manufacturing is crucial to the country's economic and technological future. #micron #chips #semiconductors #semiconductor #semiconductorindustry #foundries #technology #chipsact #scienceact #domesticmanufacturing #innovation #technology #technologynews
