The World’s Best Hospitals in 2024 Four of the top five hospitals in the world are based in the United States, according to a ranking by Statista and Newsweek. Coming in at number one, two, three, four and five, respectively, are Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Toronto General in Toronto, John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland and the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. The Toronto General moved up two ranks this year. Several European hospitals also made it onto the list, including the Charité Universitätsmedizin in Berlin, the Karolinska Universitetssjukhuset in Sweden, and the Hôpital Universitaire Pitié Salpêtrière in Paris. Rounding off the top 10 are the Sheba Medical Center in Israel and the Universitätsspital Zürich in Switzerland. To identify the world's best hospitals, Statista invited over 85,000 medical professionals across 30 countries to a survey. Additional research on patient surveys and hospital performance data was supplied in a joint effort by Newsweek and Statista.

More healthcare consumers need to pay attention to LeapFrog and here's 3 reasons why. 1. Leapfrog gathers a ton of data on hospitals quality and delivers that information so you can make wiser health care decisions. 2. Hospitals compete with each other for consumers "business" and they are all working towards top quality care, but not all can get there without the right mix of leadership, frontline talent, and modern technology to make it happen. Leapfrog shows you who is doing the best. 3. Patient safety should always be a top priority of yours as a consumer of healthcare. As it should be for the hospital too, but seeing a hospital with an F grading should leave you skeptical. Leapfrog delivers grades so you can assess quickly if the hospital near you. As I reviewed some hospitals on the A list in this Becker's article, I recalled seeing one of our partners receive A grade from Leapfrog that they highlighted on their Linkedin page. One reason for their A grade, I suspect, is that they prioritized getting experienced international staff which no doubt impacted patient quality and teamwork. For the first time, the list showcases the top 250 hospitals globally, highlighting their innovative use of AI in medical discoveries. How are these rankings determined? Through a meticulous process involving an online survey with over 85,000 medical experts, public post-hospitalization patient satisfaction surveys, and key metrics like hygiene, patient/doctor ratio, and the use of Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) to gauge patient experiences and outcomes. The ranking not only guides patients and families but also provides essential insights for healthcare executives in an industry projected to generate $4.24 trillion in 2024. Newsweek has partnered with Statista for its annual ranking of the world's best hospitals, a series that began in March 2019. This year, the list includes data on 2,400 hospitals across 30 countries. For the first time, Chile and Malaysia have been added to the ranking, which also includes the U.S., most of Western Europe and Scandinavia, 10 Asian countries, Australia and countries elsewhere in the Americas. The data is organized by nation but also lists the top 250 hospitals worldwide, the top 10 of which we've highlighted—particularly their intriguing use of artificial intelligence to advance medical discoveries. Each hospital's score is based on an online survey of more than 85,000 medical experts and public data from post-hospitalization patient surveys on their general satisfaction. The score also considers metrics on things like hygiene and patient/doctor ratio as well as a Statista survey on whether hospitals use Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs), which are standardized questionnaires completed by patients to assess their experience and results. Albert Einstein is the first Brazilian hospital in the list in the 28th position.

Best Hospitals by Specialty National Rankings In 2023-2024 U.S. News Best Hospitals ranked hospitals in the U.S. in 15 adult specialties as well as recognized hospitals by state, metro and regional areas for their work in 21 more widely performed procedures and conditions. Of the nearly 5,000 hospitals analyzed and 30,000 physicians surveyed, only 164 hospitals ranked in at least one of the specialties. https://buff.ly/3i6AhFq

'Surgical hubs: key to tackling hospital waiting lists?’ published by The Health Foundation, provides “robust causal evidence” that elective surgical hubs can increase elective hospital activity. The data shows that Trusts with an established surgical hub saw significantly greater recovery in elective activity than expected from April 2021, after the second wave of COVID-19. Also, that Trusts with a new surgical hub have seen more elective activity than expected in their first year after opening. Evidenced by the 4-theatre modular build at Queen Mary's Hospital, Roehampton, and the mobile theatre solution at Warwick Hospital, Vanguard is uniquely able to meet the widest range of requirements when establishing a surgical hub.
