Newsweek said it partnered with Statista to release its annual ranking of the world's best hospitals. The series began in 2019. The researchers evaluated 2,400 hospitals across 30 countries, including the United States, much of western Europe, Australia, 10 Asian countries, Chile and Malaysia. In New Jersey, the following hospitals earned a spot among the world’s very best: Morristown Medical Center Rank: 47 City: Morristown Hackensack University Medical Center Rank: 58 City: Hackensack Valley Hospital Rank: 137 City: Ridgewood Overlook Medical Center Rank: 174 City: Summit Englewood Hospital and Medical Center Rank: 329 City: Englewood Monmouth Medical Center Rank: 411 City: Long Branch Hospitals were scored based on an online survey of about 85,000 medical experts and publicly available data from post-hospitalization patient surveys on their general satisfaction, Newsweek said. Hygiene and patient/doctor ratios were also considered, along with a Statista survey on whether hospitals use “Patient Reported Outcome Measures,” which are surveys filled out by patients about their experience. #besthospitals #NJhospitals #newsweek

The Lown Institute, a renowned healthcare think tank, has published its 2024-25 Hospital Index, a national ranking of the top-performing hospitals. This index, considered a benchmark in the healthcare industry, evaluates hospitals and recognizes leaders in the movement for socially responsible healthcare. Mee Memorial Healthcare System has earned top marks across five major categories in this prestigious ranking. Of the 21 surveyed, Mee Memorial Healthcare System also ranked as the #1 Critical Access Hospital (CAH) in California for Social Responsibility, reflecting performance across equity, value, and outcomes categories. Mee Memorial scored an A in these five key areas: social responsibility, equity, inclusivity, value, and cost efficiency. The Lown Institute Hospitals Index is an independent study and the first ranking to evaluate hospitals on their social responsibility, including health equity metrics and value of care alongside traditional measures. Four of the top five hospitals in the world are based in the United States, according to a ranking by Statista and Newsweek. Coming in at number one, two, three, four and five, respectively, are Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Toronto General in Toronto, Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland and the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Several European hospitals also made it onto the list, including the Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin, the Karolinska University Hospital in Sweden, and the Hôpital Universitaire Pitié Salpêtrière in Paris. Rounding off the top 10 are the Sheba Medical Center, Tel Hashomer in Israel and the Universitätsspital Zürich in Switzerland. To identify the world's best hospitals, Statista invited over 85,000 medical professionals across 30 countries to a survey. Empathy in Healthcare Design: Navigating the Future I recently came across a compelling article in Hospital + Healthcare magazine discussing "The Role of Empathy" in the design and construction of the new Metro South Health Redlands Satellite Hospital (Talwalpin Milbul.) The emphasis on empathy is refreshingly simple yet often overshadowed by cost-cutting measures. Recognising that hospital visits and stays can be inherently stressful, prioritising empathy is crucial. This is a cause that resonates deeply with me and a driving force behind my excitement about introducing WiseNav to the Australasian market. Sheba Medical Center, Tel Hashomer, the biggest hospital in Israel and the entire Middle East, has been ranked ninth in Newsweek’s annual list of the world’s best hospitals. This is the fifth time that the hospital has been ranked in the top 10 by the American magazine in the six years since the current rankings were created. In its blurb about Sheba, Newsweek highlighted the Ramat Gan hospital’s emphasis on research and development with its ARC (Accelerate, Redesign, Collaborate) Center for Digital Innovation and the role its artificial intelligence platform Aidoc played in treating the casualties of the massive October 7 terror attack by Hamas. “I dedicate this achievement to the entire Israeli health system, whose strengths stood out even more during the test of war. The B.C. government announced that the redevelopment cost for Richmond Hospital has increased to $1.959 billion, up by $1.1 billion since the 2020 estimates. Health Minister Adrian Dix emphasized the government's commitment to providing modern, high-quality health care in Richmond and noted that the new "seismically safe" patient care tower marks significant progress in the redevelopment project. The redevelopment of Richmond Hospital will add 113 beds and three operating rooms, among other enhancements. The new $1.959 billion cost will be shared by the B.C. government, Vancouver Coastal Health, and the Richmond Hospital Foundation, contributing $30 million and $40 million respectively.
