🌿✨ Exciting update from Techtextil ! EIHA and DNFI - Discover Natural Fibres Initiative teamed up to showcase the potential of #hemp and #naturalfibres at the Frankfurt fair. It was an excellent opportunity to connect with stakeholders in the technical textile sector and advocate for the use of sustainable materials. We were delighted to have the support of Instytut Włókien Naturalnych i Roślin Zielarskich - PIB w Poznaniu. A lot of people asked questions about hemp, showing promising interest in its applications. A special thanks to IVGT e.V. for the invite! Together, let's continue to drive innovation and sustainability in the #textile industry! 🧵💼🌱 #Techtextil #SustainableTextiles #HempRevolution Stefan SCHMIDT Terry Townsend Elke Hortmeyer Dalena White

BioFibreLoop 👕 ♻ – a journey towards sustainable textiles: People require more and more textiles with smart functionalities (e.g. hydrophobicity) for outdoor, work or active wear. At the same time, the textile industry struggles to become more sustainable. Facing this challenge, our EU funded project BioFibreLoop has started in June 2024 with a duration of 3.5 years. We are 13 partners from nine countries, aiming to deliver high-quality textiles with desired smart functional properties while maintaining sustainability. 🚀 Follow our journey here on LinkedIn in the upcoming months and years to learn more about the project and to receive updates about the project’s activities and results. 😊 Our partners in the project are: Deutsche Institute für Textil- und Faserforschung Denkendorf (DITF), Next Technology Tecnotessile, ALPhANOV, Knopf's Sohn, FreyZein - NextGen Textiles, BE Engineers for Society, BAT Graphics Vernitech, imec, IDENER.AI, VTT, Det Nationale Forskningscenter for Arbejdsmiljø (NFA/NRCWE) and NIL Textile European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA) #BioFibreLoop #CircularTextiles #Sustainability #CircularEconomy #biobasedtextiles #lignin #cellulose #PLA

Polymers? We all have heard about the huge impact plastic has on the environment and for human health (e.g. microplastics). What we need to talk more about is on the incredible scientific advances on the field. At the International Conference of #Polymers2024, last week in Athens (Greece), I had the good fortune of hearing about last advancements in polymer science to produce safe and sustainable materials and alternative materials. It was discussed clean, green, and efficient production processes. As well as polymers life cycle assessments and risk assessments, techniques for decontamination and environmental remediation, and many techniques for polymer recycling and reuse. It was a huge event full of innovations in polymers technologies towards sustainable development. At the conference I also presented the market analysis for the Redondo project with Cristina Onorato and IOANNA DELIGKIOZI. And learnt more about many projects my colleagues from AXIA Innovation GmbH work in. #Polymers2024 #conference #posterpresentation #redondo #euproject

3moThere are so many possibilities for using hemp, however, in addition to the delay in legislation, this important plant is faced with various political/industrial interests, especially delaying countries with enormous cultivation potential. (São tantas as possibilidades de uso do cânhamo, contudo além do atraso em legilações, essa importante planta se defronta com diversos interesses políticos / industriais, atrasando especialmente países com enorme potencial de cultivo.)
