One of my pet peeves working in healthcare: always protect the free time of healthcare workers when they’re off work, at break time, or are off sick for the day.
🛑 No emails
🛑 No texts
🛑 No phone calls
Never go in their breakroom to talk about work, if nurses are on their lunch break.
Burnout is such a significant issue in healthcare, and one way to combat it is by respecting their free time off work.
According to the RNAO, over 75 per cent of Canadian nurses recognized themselves as burnt out, with the highest percentages being among hospital nurses and front- line workers compared to other sectors or domains.
It's essential for employees to have the opportunity to rest without being reminded of work during their off work time, even a lunch break is precious.
