A Toolchain for Automated Control and Simulation of Robot Teams in Carbon-Fiber-Reinforced Polymers Production 🤖 Today we are delighted to share a new paper, which presents a proof-of-concept tool chain for the automated control and simulation of a robot team in producing carbon-fiber-reinforced polymers. Starting from a CAD design of a simple aviation component, it extracts cut pieces of carbon fiber and their properties. Using this data and the robot cell layout, various assignment possibilities for cut pieces to grippers and robots are identified. Two PDDL solver approaches are introduced to find a scheduling for the lay-up process, which is then simulated with a physics and rendering engine. The main aim is to demonstrate feasibility rather than optimize individual steps. The modular structure allows easy integration of extensions and optimizations. The paper highlights the underexplored area of digitalization and automated control in aerospace production technology, suggesting this work will spur further research. 🚀 The future of space exploration is being shaped by Additive Manufacturing! 🌌 Renishaw's additive manufacturing (AM) technology is helping redefine the space race, as seen in the JUICE mission, where 3D-printed components reduced weight and enhanced performance. As the space sector grows more competitive, AM offers the design flexibility and precision needed for low-volume, highly customised parts. By blending traditional and additive methods, we can unlock new frontiers in aerospace innovation. Read our latest article, written by Marc Gardon, AM Applications Manager at Renishaw Ibérica (ES · PT) featuring a discussion with @Marta García-Cosío CITD Engineering & Technologies Managing Director, and @Lidia Hernández Álvarez CiTD Head of Additive Manufacturing. 🔗 https://bit.ly/3Txoq5z #AdditiveManufacturing #3DPrinting #Metal3DPrinting #Renishaw #ApplyInnovatin #Aerospace #JUICE #WorldSpaceWeek

The pursuit of high-performance batteries in electric vehicles (EVs) has led to increased demand for more efficient, safer and reliable energy storage solutions. In this webinar, we will demonstrate how 3DEXPERIENCE platform enables to achieve optimal battery performance providing insight into the complex interplay of multiple physical phenomena occurring within battery cells. You will learn how to create a detailed parametric 3D jellyroll geometry with realistic offsets and transitions using Layered Product Design (LAY) application. This jellyroll is highly associated with FE mesh to perform design studies for electrochemical and mechanical behaviour . The variation in concentrations, potentials and temperature can be assessed by using fully coupled Multiscale Multiphysics model on platform. We explore how cell designers can get insights on the vital safety aspects by performing highly complex and nonlinear simulation like crash and internal short circuit which can lead to thermal runaway. These Multiphysics simulations with a unified computational framework MODSIM accelerated the battery cell development process.
