This move aligns with Berjaya Corp Bhd's broader strategy to form innovative partnerships with leading Chinese firms Skyworth Group Co Ltd and Skywell New Energy Automobile Group Co Ltd. KUALA LUMPUR (June 18): Berjaya Corp Bhd has signed agreements to enhance the reach of Skyworth’s home appliances in Malaysia and Southeast Asia, and to establish the Skywell EV brand in the region. This collaboration will drive advancements in essential technologies and bolster the ecosystem, fostering sustainable development and prosperity. Speed data comes from Railway Technology and is updated as of June 2023. The fastest train in the world, the Shanghai maglev, is the first commercial maglev train. It uses electromagnets to float above the tracks, which eliminates resistance, reduces maintenance costs, and allows for higher top speeds. The SNCF TGV currently holds the world speed record for a commercial train. A modified TGV prototype fitted with two powered bogies hit 574.8 km/h in the northern Champagne region of France back in April 2007. Japan Rail's Tōkaidō Shinkansen is the oldest train in the top 10 and the world's first high-speed rail system. The iconic bullet train was launched for the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo, linking Tokyo to Osaka at a speed of 210 km/h. Now, the Shinkansen operates at 320 km/h and transports over a million passengers a day. As an aside, I rode the several of these the last time I was in China, and it mind blowing. Not just how fast but incredibly quiet.

🚶🏻🚴♂️ 🛴🚶♀️👨🦼 Safe integration of active mobility modes into Singapore’s transport ecosystem: In line with the vision of a safe, inclusive and sustainable transport system laid out in the Land Transport Plan 2040, Singapore will make Active Mobility Devices (AMDs) an essential part of its future transport system. A pilot project, which began in February 2022, is using Aimsun transport simulation studies of Bedok-Chai Che, Ang Mo Kio and Marina South neighbourhoods to better understand the impact of AMDs in different environments, from industrial and commuting zones to leisure areas. The study is supported by data from the Land Transport Authority (LTA) Singapore and has provided valuable insights into how potential infrastructural changes - including path widening, signals, lane segregation, intersection slip road removals, etc - could enhance the safety of the interactions between AMDs and other road users. Aimsun is working on the pilot project in collaboration with Yunex Traffic (formerly part of Siemens Mobility), FIA – Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile) and its affiliated club, the Automobile Association of Singapore. The findings from this study are helping to shape future urban and road infrastructure in Singapore, making it a safer and more inclusive city for all. To learn more, contact Karen Cheung.
