Unanswered questions are the lifeblood of scientific advancement. And when it comes to #HealthcareAI, there are certainly more questions than answers. During last week's webinar on the role of evidence in #AI development, our panel of experts explained that while research should always inform #BehavioralHealth tech innovation, gaps in evidence shouldn't stop providers from leveraging new tools altogether. See what else they had to say in our webinar recap below. Kudos to our amazing speakers for sharing their insights and wisdom with us, and huge thanks to National Council for Mental Wellbeing for co-hosting this educational event! ⭐ Dennis Morrison PhD, Clinical Strategist ⭐ Shiri Sadeh-Sharvit, PhD🎗️, Chief Clinical Officer, Eleos Health ⭐ Joseph Parks, MD Medical Director, National Council for Mental Wellbeing ⭐ Ashley Newton, CEO, Centerstone's Research Institute #AugmentedIntelligence #HealthIT #MoreCareLessOps

Stellar as always report from Mckinsey. Easiest way to incorporate AI into your healthcare delivery is to partner with a SME vendor that already has a capability that you need. Currently I am working with a transformational organization, Clarigent Health, that is revolutionizing how we screen for mental health conditions, using a linguistic AI/ML model. Our language gives clues into our mental health status and their tool easily screens large or small populations to find risk for Anxiety, Depression and Suicide. We work with schools, health plans and other risk bearing entities. Co-occurring behavioral health conditions drive significant healthcare spend and to do more with less you must find the population you need to intervene with. #clarigenthealth #stopsuicide

🎉 Exciting New Paper from Limbic 🎉 How can we close the accessibility gap to mental health treatment? This recent publication in Nature Medicine from our Lab at Limbic shows that the usage of an AI-copilot improved accessibility to mental health care by 15% across 129,00 patients in England’s NHS. Results: ⬆ An estimated 33,000 additional patients accessed mental health treatment due to the AI-copilot Accessibility was especially boosted for underrepresented minority groups: 📈 179% increase in access for non-binary patients 📈 40% increase in access for Black/Black-British patients 📈 39% increase in access for Asian/Asian-British patients These increases appear to be driven by: ❤️ The non-judgmental AI-copilot removing stigma & barriers 👤 Tailored clinical questioning of the AI-copilot helping patients to realise their need for therapy Health equity and access to the right treatment is an important objective for every healthcare system. Especially for mental health, there are many barriers and hurdles to accessing care. This leads to a large number of patients who don’t receive the treatment they need. While there is often concern about bias in AI systems (rightly so), our results indicate that using AI responsibly and with a focus on safety can in fact reduce bias and lead to improved health equity for all groups. However, this is only possible if tools are rigorously tested and evaluated. Limbic Access is the only mental health chatbot regulated as a Medical Device Class 2a. This showcases that AI which is developed safely and has been regulated can help to make our healthcare systems more equitable and accessible. These results are enormously exciting to us as they indicate that technology and especially AI can be a core driver to make high quality mental health care available to everyone, everywhere. The recent findings on the Limbic chatbot's impact in England offer a compelling glimpse into the future of healthcare, where artificial intelligence plays a crucial role in enhancing access to mental health services. This innovation has notably improved referral rates, especially among underrepresented groups, demonstrating AI's potential to bridge gaps in healthcare accessibility. At Bupa, we recognise the critical importance of mental well-being alongside physical health. In Spain, our digital health service Blua uses AI to analyse data points such as a daily questionnaire plus exercise and sleep data from the devices we wear to provide customers with personalised advice on how to manage their mental health. It's inspiring to see how AI can complement our efforts towards a more inclusive and accessible healthcare system.
