Self-advocacy starts with understanding. When our children recognize and communicate their sensory needs, they're not just seeking comfort—they're expressing their truth. Let's empower them to convey their truths and navigate the world on their own terms. 🖤🌿🗣️ Discover a wealth of resources when you join our community. https://lnkd.in/ehBBjfUK #SensorySelfAdvocacy #BlackFamilies

Terun, the co-founder of People's Advocacy Institute, shares invaluable advice for justice-impacted youth. 'Love yourself, no matter where you come from. You are beautiful, brilliant, and as capable as anyone else,' he asserts with conviction. Terun emphasizes the importance of self-love as the foundation for navigating life's challenges and making decisions that align with our own goals and aspirations. Don't let others dictate who you should be. Your vision, your goals, are yours to achieve, stay true to yourselves and your path, everything else will align accordingly. . . . . . #TerunInspires #PeoplesAdvocacyInstitute #EmpowermentForYouth #SelfLoveFirst #YouthGuidance #JusticeImpactedYouth #BeYourBestSelf #AuthenticPath #OwnYourJourney #YouthEmpowerment #LoveYourself #SetYourGoals #NavigatingLife #TrueToYourself #VisionAndGoals #InspirationalAdvice #YouthLeadership #EmpoweringTheFuture #YourJourneyYourRules #StrengthInSelfLove

In celebration of Autistic Pride Day on June 18, Autism-Europe stands proudly in leading advocacy for the rights and visibility of autistic people. Our multiannual campaign, ‘Not invisible’ resonates deeply with the message of Autistic and Neurodiversity Pride. It aims to shine a light on the often overlooked and invisible barriers that autistic people face daily. It is also a call to recognise and value the strengths that autistic people can bring to society, not least in the world of work. ‘Not invisible’ is a Europe-wide push to ensure that autistic people are seen, heard, supported, and included at every level of society. https://lnkd.in/dG6X3zfj #AutismNotInvisible #AutisticPrideDay

One size does not fit all when helping survivors. Last month, LACLJ Directing Attorney Michelle Carey and LACLJ Senior Attorney Julie Tedford journeyed to Salt Lake City, Utah, for The Freedom Network USA Human Trafficking Conference to learn more about anti-trafficking tactics aimed at helping some truly unique populations of human trafficking survivors. The Freedom Network’s conference programming tackled the hidden impact to underserved populations of human trafficking survivors such as men and boys, older individuals, persons with disabilities, LGBTQIA2S+ survivors, and victims of labor trafficking. The live sessions and workshops at this year's conference gave Michele and Julie valuable insights into practical, new approaches to enhance our anti-trafficking work. We’re committed to learning everything we can about modern anti-trafficking strategies. Armed with new information, we can put forth real solutions that have a real impact on these specialized communities of survivors. For every story and every survivor, LACLJ is here. #FreedomNetworkUSA #HumanTraffickingSurvivor #Advocacy #HumanTraffickingAdvocacy #SurvivorsRights #HumanTraffickingSurvivor

Day 6 out of the 12 days of Impact: Unveiling Realities and Fostering Understanding! 🌟 One of the things that’s so important to the health of our mission is advocacy and awareness, a journey of enlightenment. We're thankful today for the opportunities to peel back the layers to expose the roots of homelessness and addiction, dismantling myths, and spark open conversations. Through community events and partnerships, dialogues, and sharing authentic stories, we empower minds with knowledge, eroding stigma one fact at a time. Together, we illuminate the path toward empathy and unity. #12DaysOfImpact

Had a discussion yesterday about WHY we need community support in the advocacy work we do. Answers filled a white board. What stood out to me, in a moment of political polarity, is that thoughtful, equitable policy MUST have the voice of the majority middle to work. To pass the legislative bodies. To have the changes created by the policies fully integrate and become normal and acceptable parts of our culture. The problem is, the majority middle often feels tired of politics--and can be difficult to engage. But we need all-hands-on-deck for all of our projects. And definitely for this one--The Safe Child Project. Any effort to end a problem as pervasive and pernicious as child sexual abuse--which has been entrenched and hidden in society, likely since the beginning of time, is going to take a lot of voices to change. Please help us save the one in seven children who experience this type of abuse from the hell it creates. We'll be doing a statewide tour of Utah--with events in five counties from north to south. Come. End apathy. Change lives. I'll be posting all events here. Register for the first below. The Policy Project Nina Raynor Barnes https://lnkd.in/gKjdwGjp
