How Can Public Innovators Think Globally and Act Locally? According to Fabienne Schiavo and Claudio Freitas de Magalhães, Public Innovators should consider global challenges—the economy, technology, environment, health, safety, and education—through the lenses of community-oriented innovations. They propose a new strategic design thinking model for smart, sustainable cities that should be applied through participatory methods at the neighborhood and urban district levels. The model empowers Public Innovators to lead effective actions.   The ‘Strategic Design Thinking for Smart Sustainable Cities Model’ resulted from Fabienne’s doctoral design research at Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro. What are the big stories emerging from the work of urban mobility scientists? To mark European Mobility Week, Delft University of Technology has spotlighted a range of notable projects in the mobility field across its channels all this week. Regarding mobility in Amsterdam, several collaborative projects were highlighted! 🚗 The lower-car future As Amsterdam pursues a low-car future, this TU Delft and AMS Institute research investigates what 400 Amsterdammers really think about different low-car urban interventions. Cities can promote safer, cleaner route options by adding information about school zones, congestion, and pollution to navigation systems. Exciting News from the FAME Project!🤩 We're pleased to announce that FAME project's #partners will play a prominent role in several sessions at the upcoming Urbanism Next Europe Conference 2024, taking place in Amsterdam on 9-11 October. Our team members, Tom Alkim - MAPtm, Satu Innamaa - VTT, and Isabel Wilmink -TNO, will each be contributing their expertise across multiple discussions. On Wednesday, Isabel Wilmink will be involved in the workshop "Sustainable and Equitable Policies on Emerging Technologies,” will discuss the European policy's shift towards sustainable and equitable policies within the realm of new mobility technologies On Thursday afternoon, Satu Innamaa and Isabel Wilmink are set to speak in the session “Considering the Expected Societal Impacts of Automated Vehicles in Urban Areas With the EU Common Evaluation Methodology,” focusing on how automated vehicles impact #urbanmobility and how to incorporate these impacts into policy frameworks.
