Another collaboration is reaching its final step. In this one, we came together with Leonie Kralinger, Kateryna Pereverza representing KTH Royal Institute of Technology and Annelie Viksten from Skellefteå Science City in a project that originally aimed at providing a more realistic visualisations of mobility hubs in winter cities, yet ended up doing a bit more... 🌟 The Visual Toolkit is developed within the “Climate-neutral and inclusive communities - Skellefteå” project. With it, we aim to provide visual prototypes of a mobility hub that is context-driven and specific to Nordic ‘winter cities’ - cities that experience winter conditions for a large part of the year. The project is based on existing work by: Kateryna Pereverza, Annelie Viksten and Moa Ribjer. 🌟

How Can Public Innovators Think Globally and Act Locally? According to Fabienne Schiavo and Claudio Freitas de Magalhães, Public Innovators should consider global challenges—the economy, technology, environment, health, safety, and education—through the lenses of community-oriented innovations. They propose a new strategic design thinking model for smart, sustainable cities that should be applied through participatory methods at the neighborhood and urban district levels. The model empowers Public Innovators to lead effective actions. The ‘Strategic Design Thinking for Smart Sustainable Cities Model’ resulted from Fabienne’s doctoral design research at Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro. The model's pilot took place in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, showcasing its potential for adaptation and implementation in other neighborhoods and cities. You can learn and adopt this new model by reading their recently published article, ‘Towards Smart Sustainable Cities: A Novel Strategic Design Thinking Model.’ Link: https://lnkd.in/dCYVYc28 Image by Fabienne Schiavo: ‘Modelo de Design Thinking para Smart City’ You can find Fabienne’s doctoral dissertation in Portuguese here at this link: https://lnkd.in/dYEzQfNk It was a great honor to be part of Fabienne’s advisory and final defense committee together with a stellar group of Brazilian design researchers: Isabel Froes, Vera Damazio, Carla Cipolla (Carla Martins Cipolla), Carlo Franzato.

Join us in continuing the discussion about #CircularConstruction and the changes needed for the industry on Thursday at "Neues Bauen" 12.00-15.30 at the Transferale conference. Last week, I attended neext - powered by Drees & Sommer, an inspiring conference focused on the future of construction and city building. It was filled with good panels, workshops, and visionary thoughts. The discussion has to go on... and we do it by having a great panel with Sofia Ceylan founder of TOMAS – Transformation of Material and Space and Simon Kimmel Project manager of Urban Tech Republic | Berlin TXL They will present their organizations, and we will discuss how we re-think processes, adapt technologies, and develop innovation, better data sharing, new building materials, or smarter urban planning. The change is happening, who will take the lead and how do we work together across sectors will shaping the cities of tomorrow? At the event, there will be project presentations from Professor Matthias Rudolf Haber and Professor Sebastian Feucht followed by Alicia Feig presenting the Impact Hub Berlin CRCLR-House one of Berlin's current flagship buildings in terms of Circular Construction The session will end with TRIVIAL CIRCUIT - Educational board game on circular economy in construction. We are looking forward to an inspiring and interactive event! BHT Startup Hub Circular Berlin Institut Bauen und Umwelt e.V. What are the big stories emerging from the work of urban mobility scientists? To mark European Mobility Week, Delft University of Technology has spotlighted a range of notable projects in the mobility field across its channels all this week. Regarding mobility in Amsterdam, several collaborative projects were highlighted! 🚗 The lower-car future As Amsterdam pursues a low-car future, this TU Delft and AMS Institute research investigates what 400 Amsterdammers really think about different low-car urban interventions. "The diversity in answers suggests that a one-size-fits-all approach to promoting low-car environments might not be effective," says lead author Anastasia (Natasa) Roukouni. 👉🏼 Read more about Natasa's and Oded Cats's study here: https://lnkd.in/edN52DSU 🚦 Integrating values into traffic rules Our Code the Streets project creates new mobility management tools to enable cities to communicate with their citizens directly via mobility providers. Cities can promote safer, cleaner route options by adding information about school zones, congestion, and pollution to navigation systems. TU Delft Alumnus and Project Manager at our Responsible Sensing Lab, Fabian Geiser's, graduation project designed a way to help integrate residents' values, such as safety and inclusiveness, into smart navigation systems. 👉🏼 Read more about this thesis here: https://lnkd.in/e7nHWvzy 👉🏼 ...and Code the streets here: https://lnkd.in/gmsap3ky TU Delft | Industrial Design Engineering City of Amsterdam TomTom EuropeanMobilityWeek #amsterdammobility #amsterdam #mobilityscience #urbanmobility
