🚀 Exciting News! My thematic report on 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐲𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐬 for the EU Missions is now published! 📚🌍 I'm thrilled to announce the publication of the third thematic report from the 𝐌𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐱𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐄𝐔 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬. This report looks into mission-oriented funding and the creation of synergies among various financial and policy instruments to support mission portfolios. Here are some key insights and highlights from the report: 🔍 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧-𝐎𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠: • Essential throughout the process for consistent deployment from design to evaluation. • Helps to encourage public-private partnerships to mobilize distributed capacities. • Fundamental for addressing long-term, ambitious societal goals that often have “public good” characteristics. 🔗 𝐒𝐲𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐲 𝐌𝐢𝐱: • A comprehensive toolbox of innovation policy instruments is key. • Includes supply-side (financial support, knowledge transfer) and demand-side (systemic policies, regulation) instruments, as well as systemic instruments (living labs, cluster policies). • Effective synergies require coordination, consistency, and integration across various levels and sectors. 🌐 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: • Aligning EU and national funding programs to diversify sources and cover the innovation chain. • Engaging private sector and philanthropic foundations to scale up mission goals. • Overcoming bureaucratic hurdles and risk aversion to foster innovation. The report outlines a s𝐭𝐞𝐩-𝐛𝐲-𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐩 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐬𝐲𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐲 𝐦𝐢𝐱 and concludes with a "𝐝𝐨𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭𝐬" 𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐤𝐞𝐲 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 to guide effective implementation and collaboration. Additionally, it presents 𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐀𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐚, 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐰𝐚𝐲, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐰𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐧, showcasing practical implementations, the importance of strategic coordination, and stakeholder engagement. I thoroughly enjoyed the process and learned immensely from the MLE's topic visits and interactions with representatives from the participating countries.
