⚡️ Access to clean energy is unevenly distributed. For developing countries or island nations, efforts to transition to renewables are obstructed by intermittency, deployability, and grid availability. This is where DRIFT Energy Ltd comes in… DRIFT - our latest Blue Action Accelerator investment ➡️ Green yachts that offer a new method of mobile renewable energy ➡️ AI optimised to simultaneously harness wind, wave, and solar energy, and convert it into green hydrogen onboard, which can then be transported to hubs or ports ➡️ Founded by Ben Medland Read more about our investment in DRIFT here: https://lnkd.in/eZEr5rBm Neal Pawson CEng MRINA | Mike Mackay | Nigel Robinson | Jamie Rowles | Olivia Brooks | Rupert Hayward | Jeff Stoike | Melissa Halpern | 💡Louis Butcher | Ellie Slaght | Emma Wolfin | George Northcott #oceantech #climatetech #cleantech #startup #founder

A recent episode of 'Grand Designs UK' has show cased the exponentially moving space of #renewablepower #innovation - #solar panel roof tiles from Estonia. It's a glimpse into a future where houses essentially become #power stations. For this house, the solar panels would generate up to 80% more energy than the house needed (the house is huge by the way!), allowing that excess to be pumped into the grid. In fact, there was so much excess energy, they were prevented from exporting a third of it due to it overwhelming the grid. The only drawback from this rapidly developing market is that innovations like these could be obsolete 12 months later. Truth is, it should bring choice into the market where some will be more fit for purpose in a given context. The #future is renewable, and it's here. https://lnkd.in/gJya56zT

As the world becomes more adaptive to renewable energy, innovation in this field is becoming quite impressive. Let's discuss four latest innovative renewable energy technologies: Making water from the air: Yes, you read it right! Finding alternative water sources is vital, especially as water scarcity will be a significant issue for two-thirds of the population by 2025. A US startup has created off-grid "hydropanels" that can turn air into water. Fans inside the panels pull water vapor out of the air, which is then turned into liquid water that can be mineralized and used as drinking water. Solar power windows: California-based Ubiquitous Technology has developed renewable energy windows that function as solar panels. The glass is treated to allow visible light to pass through while absorbing and converting invisible ultraviolet and infrared light into electricity. Turbines that never turn: A US startup has invented a system that uses three-meter-tall wind generators with no external moving parts. The system's aerodynamic fins guide fast-rising air past an internal turbine, producing 50% more power than other sustainable options. Solar and wind power together: While solar power and wind power are often considered separately, French startup Unéole has developed a small-scale, easy-to-install solution that combines both. The platform uses multiple wind turbines under a photovoltaic roof to create a silent and efficient energy solution. That's all for today.
