Bougainville's Panguna copper mine redevelopment requires major investment Reopening the Panguna copper mine in Papua New Guinea would require billions of dollars in new investment, according to Bougainville Copper Limited chairman Sir Melchior Togolo. Speaking at the Papua New Guinea Resources Summit, Togolo stated that despite Panguna being one of the world's largest open copper mines during its operations between 1972 and 1989, potential redevelopment would involve significant initial capital costs. However, he suggested a smaller initial operation could be feasible, expanding as production becomes established. Killi enters into an Option and Joint Venture Agreement with Gold Fields over the West Tanami Project, and Placement Gold Fields can earn up to 85% interest in the Project by spending $13 million on exploration activities over 2 stages.   Gold Fields to manage the Project and meet all costs, with Killi leveraged to a gold discovery through its Project interest. Agreement validates the Company’s work to date and the belief that the West Tanami Project has the potential to host a large new scale orogenic gold deposit. Gold Fields to subscribe for $500,000 in Killi shares subject to shareholder approval, affirming the prospectivity of the Company’s Mt Rawdon West Copper-Gold and Ravenswood North Gold Projects in Queensland. Oversubscribed share placement completed to raise an additional $1 million (Total $1.5m including Gold Fields). Mt Rawdon exploration program to commence where high grade rock chips up to 7.2% Cu and 12.4g/t Au recorded within a 4.5km x 1.5km Cu-Au-Mo soil anomaly.

On Friday 12 July, the MV Lindsaylou bulk cargo vessel, loaded with 40,500 tonnes of sulphur docked at the mineral terminal of the Port of Lobito, marking the beginning of port operations for the Lobito Atlantic Railway (LAR). The sulphur, will initially be stored at the mineral terminal and then be placed on LAR international cargo trains bound for the Democratic Republic of Congo to support refined copper production by mining companies based in the Katanga area. The Mingomba mine project is a strategic investment by KoBold Metals, a U.S.-based start-up that uses artificial intelligence to explore for critical minerals for the electric vehicle and renewable energy revolution. KoBold Metals has partnered with EMR Capital, a specialist mining private equity firm, and ZCCM-IH, to invest $150 million in the project. The project is strongly aligned with the 2022 National Mineral Resources Development Policy to grow copper production and local supply chain content and corporate social responsibility. The expected benefits of the Mingomba mine project to the economy are: - It will increase Zambia's copper production and exports, which account for about 70% of the country's foreign exchange earnings. - It will create jobs and skills development opportunities for the local workforce, especially in the fields of mineral exploration and artificial intelligence. - It will foster transparent, secure, and sustainable critical-mineral supply chains, which are essential for the green-energy transition and the climate-smart economy of the 21st century. - It will enhance Zambia's reputation as a mining destination and attract more foreign direct investment and innovation in the sector.

It’s encouraging to see the interest that this project has drawn locally and globally. The truth is that the Northern limb of the Copperbelt has been known to have deep seated high grade structures for many years. Konkola Deep is one of them and so is Lubambe. Most of them are open ended and the limit is the international boundary with the DRC. On ZCCM IH I believe it needs to streamline it’s strategy. ZCCM IH actually has all the geological data it inherited from the parent ZCCM Ltd. A few of us worked hard to preserve the technical data in Kalulushi at the Techical Services Library and core shed with the late Librarian Justin Chileshe. Companies like FQM piggy backed on ZCCM IH with a small Mkt Cap then. ZCCM IH’s Market Cap is still below $200M and FQM’s has grown to $8B with an enterprise value of $16B. Clearly something is not right here. On the other hand our stock exchange LuSE is quite illiquid and most of the local institutional investors don’t participate in exploration and mining assets.This inevitably perpetuates the cycle of capital flight through repatriation of profits when assets like Lumwana are developed. Ghana is making significant strides towards realizing its vision of building an integrated  aluminum industry, with the selection of strategic partners,  Rocksure International and Mytilineos Energy & Metals, for the construction of two alumina refineries and the development of two mines at Nyinahin-Mpasaaso in the Ashanti Region.The project, which is expected to be a game-changer for Ghana’s economy, has already completed its first phase, which involved prospecting and mineral resource estimation (MRE).The results of the MRE have confirmed that Nyinahin in the Ashanti Region has an estimated 700 million metric tonnes (MMT) of bauxite deposits, out of a total of 900MMT in Ghana. https://lnkd.in/dK-Uf23a

Oriole Resources PLC - pleased to report an updated Inferred JORC-compliant Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) of 375 Koz @ 2.3 g/t for Bakassi Zone 1, one of four prospects at its 92.2%-owned Bibemi orogenic gold project in Cameroon. The resource update of 23% is based on an updated gold price, using a $2000/oz pit shell, over a strike length of 1270m and to a depth of over 260m below surface.
