Ivanhoe has agreed to use the Lobito Corridor for its copper exports from Kamoa-Kakula in DRC. This is a positive development for the project's funders and contractors. It also aims to increase US's role in the region's economic growth. Interestingly, the railway line in Angola was built by China, and Zijin, a Chinese firm, co-owns the mine. An Australian-first rare earths and critical minerals project in Dubbo, regional NSW, has taken a material step forward after Australian Strategic Materials (ASM) received financial backing from a US export credit agency.   Export-Import Bank of the United States (USEXIM) signed a non-binding and conditional Letter of Interest to provide a debt funding package of up to $923 million (USD$600 million) for the construction of the rare earths mine, which will support the company’s metals refinery in Korea.   The funding will go towards the construction phase of the Dubbo Project, showcasing the new opportunities between Australia and the US to achieve bilateral objectives.   #criticalminerals #rareearths #dubbo #regionalnsw #investmentopportunities #InvestRegionalNSW #ASM

KEFI Gold and Copper said it has formally launched the Tulu Kapi Gold Mines project in Ethiopia after a decision by the board of local subsidiary TKGM, which includes representatives from the Ethiopian Federal and Oromia Regional Governments. “This decision to launch Tulu Kapi follows the deployment of dedicated site policing and the conditional confirmations that quickly ensued from all members of the project's finance syndicate.” An updated corporate presentation will be uploaded to the company website, KEFI said, and includes a summary of Early Works, Major Works, Key Milestones, Finance Plan and Key Economic Metrics. Guinea's National Transition Council has approved a joint venture between Rio Tinto Plc, China-backed Winning Consortium Simandou and the government to develop the world's biggest untapped iron ore reserve. The Simandou project just continues to progress, step by step. Is this the so-called “Pilbara Killer”? Time will tell. But, as the Simandou project comes in line, it will deliver the ore needed to underpin Africa’s ongoing development - urbanisation and its associated infrastructure requirements. Chinese companies have long been involved in extractive resources projects in Africa.
