JUST PUBLISHED! Lydia Coxon investigated symptom flares in women with chronic pelvic pain and discovered these are prevalent and clinically important. With >60% of respondents stating flares can stop them from their usual activities, it is clear that more research is required to investigate the mechanisms and characteristics underlying flares. Despite a range of symptoms being reported by patients, triggers are often identified with the underlying mechanisms remaining unknown and no treatments for stopping or reducing the flares. "Thoracic Duct–Venous Junction Obstruction as Unknown Cause of Abdominal Pain: Diagnosis and Treatment" from the University of Pennsylvania Health System. This study focuses on patients (like myself) experiencing abdominal pain and bloating due to thoracic duct-venous junction obstruction. It shows how decompression of this junction significantly improved symptoms. This highlights the importance of considering the lymphatic system in diagnosing abdominal pain. For therapists and patients, recognizing central lymphatic dysfunction is vital. This knowledge can lead to innovative treatments, enhancing our journey towards better health. #LymphedemaAwareness #ThoracicDuctHealth #LymphaticHealth

Dr. Paul Sieving, director of the National Eye Institute (NEI), says, “Only about half of all people with diabetes get an annual comprehensive dilated eye exam, which is essential for detecting diabetic eye disease early, when it is most treatable.” Furthermore, individuals from diverse racial and ethnic groups receive less frequent screenings and are at higher risk for diabetic retinopathy and diabetic macular edema. Early detection, timely treatment, and appropriate follow-up care can reduce a person’s risk for severe vision loss from diabetic eye disease by 95 percent. Ask how we can help your organization identify and resolve this issue among your health disparities populations. _____ #MoreInclusiveHeathcare #InclusiveSolutions #InclusiveInnovation #HealthEquity #DataCollection #HealthIT #PopulationHealth #CommunityHealth #HealthEquityNow #EdTech Lisa Sloane

Diagnosing Compartment Syndrome (CS) is complex. Symptoms can be nonspecific, especially in non-verbal or sedated patients. Key indicators like pain, pallor, and pulselessness vary in reliability. ICP measurements are common but vary in interpretation. In children, symptoms like agitation add to the challenge. SentinelpH®'s real-time monitoring aims to deliver critical, dynamic data, empowering clinicians to make swift, accurate decisions, and potentially saving limbs and lives. #HealthcareInnovation #MedicalTechnology #PatientCare #CompartmentSyndrome #SentinelpH Read more in Cureus Journal of Medical Science by Mikayla Hobbs, Hira T.
