We love feedback! This week, a support coordinator reached out via email email to say how fantastic DDWA's Mapping Complex Needs Planning resource is. 🌟 "I have found this to be a very useful tool and resource to use with my clients. I have forwarded to support workers within my network [for them to complete], who have a much closer relationship to the participant, instead of [the particpant] needing to directly open up with me...I just wanted to thank you for allowing such a powerful tool to be widely accessible to everyone." 🌟 This resource is for you if you are: ➡️ family or a friend and you know the person from seeing them in their daily life, you can start to map out what you know. ➡️ a person in a paid role in the community, who meets a person as part of your work, you may be wondering how you can practically assist them. This resource could help. ➡️ a support worker, you may see the person where they live or in the community which can start the process of getting to know them well. You can download this resource for free...

BASW England Children and Families Seminar: Working with Deaf Families This is a topic I care deeply about. In my experience, there is a dearth of knowledge among child and family social workers about Deaf culture. As a profession, we need to do more to raise awareness of Deaf culture and the issues facing Deaf families. This seminar will serve as an introduction to some of these considerations. FREE for BASW members. https://lnkd.in/e_2weVFs

THE 10 THINGS TO THINGS The word "receive" means "to accep." Psychologists tell us we can have anything we can mentally accept, but we must be able to mentally accept it first. 2. Most of us have heard a lot about giving but not enough about receiving. Many people have a hang-up about receiving. 3. Giving is only one-half of the law. Receiving is the other half. Many people unbalance the law by overgiving. Many people unbalance the law by not expecting to receive.

In the intricate world of NDIS service provision, there exists a profound truth – the depth of understanding we possess about our customer base and the communities they are a part of directly influences the quality of support we can offer. This understanding goes beyond surface-level interactions; it delves into the very fabric of lived experiences. "Beyond the Surface" is about recognizing the transformative impact of having real-life, deeply involved experiences within the community. The degradation, humiliation and abuse inflicted by these adults to children is vile. The comments of denial from all staff including the head and CEO makes it all the worse and shows, at best, a clear disregard for children and their rights, and at worst people who see no problem in abusing children. - How do you create a culture of safeguarding? - As a leader how do you assure yourself of this effective culture of safeguarding IN PRACTICE in your setting?
Working to create a world where all children thrive and flourish • Empowering Senior Leaders to transform their approach to supporting children’s social, emotional and mental health needs
Words do not suffice… I was horrified watching the Panorama episode last night. Safer recruitment does not end after a job offer! A culture of vigilance and being child centred, being empowered to speak up and creating environments where children’s voices can be heard must be the top priority for every school, education and children’s care provider. https://lnkd.in/enft2eRb
