Department for Energy Security and Net Zero’s Post

Did you know that without forests, the 🌎 would be one degree hotter? To cool down the temperature around them, trees release gases which form tiny particles that help cloud droplets form. Here's Dr Cat Scott from University of Leeds with more on how this works 📽️👇

And is it also correct that Solar panels are significantly warmer than the surrounding vegetation. When thousands of acres of farmland are covered in solar panels, local temperatures are likely to rise, much like how cities are hotter than rural areas due to the "urban heat island" effect. This happens because solar panels, which have a low efficiency rate, release about four units of heat into the atmosphere for every unit of electricity they produce. But there’s a solution! Instead of covering our valuable crops with solar panels, we can place them on rooftops. This way, we harness clean energy without compromising our farmland or increasing local temperatures. Join us in advocating for smarter solar solutions that benefit both our environment and our community! 🌱🏡

Struggling to see what this has to do with energy security. Are you going to plant trees to produce energy. More money wasted on a quango department.
