Back to the Future-The Importance of Neighborhood Play While more school districts and city support for sports play is great, there are not enough schools, parks and rec departments, sports leagues or coaches to fix the significant decline in play for our kids----- and as parents --ultimately we control that experience. We feel the answer for kids to reengage with sports play is in our own backyard --and we just need to open the door after school or during the weekends and just let the kids in your neighborhood find each other and play what they want and when they want ----less control and less scheduling -means better child development for our kids-even if it means a occasional skinned knee or getting teased for wearing a White Sox's cap in a Cubs neighborhood. https://lnkd.in/gyatTWze

A lot of people are talking about expanding the NCAA tournament field. A big reason college football is so popular is that every game of the season matters towards who competes for the championship. The easier you make it for teams to compete in March Madness, the less the regular season matters. I get that more games equal more revenue, but it would be nice to see college basketball look at an in-season tournament concept like the National Basketball Association (NBA). As it currently stands, the selection committee is comparing leagues based on non-conference play that occurs prior to a lot of teams rounding into their best form. If there were a series of in-season cross-conference tournaments in January, it might create the added revenue the schools are hoping for while also giving the selection committee a better view of who the strongest leagues and teams are when it comes time to select for March Madness. I’m sure the television companies wouldn’t mind the added viewers during the regular season either…
