At TAI Engineering, we are incredibly proud of our talented women engineers who contribute significantly to our projects and innovations every day. As we celebrate Women Engineers Week, we recognize the vital role that women play in shaping the future of engineering. The growth of women in engineering has been remarkable. Currently, women make up approximately 16% of professionals in architecture and engineering occupations in the US. Although this is a positive trend, there is still much work to be done to achieve gender parity in our field (Fictiv) (Denken). Globally, women now represent 29% of the STEM workforce, with over one million women working in STEM occupations (IET - Home). In engineering roles specifically, the number of women has increased from 36,734 to over 62,000 in the past seven years (Stem Women). Despite these advancements, women still face challenges in representation, particularly in leadership roles. We believe that diverse perspectives lead to better decision-making, enhanced creativity, and more innovative solutions. By fostering an inclusive environment, we aim to inspire the next generation of women engineers to break barriers and lead the way in technological advancements. Join us in celebrating the achievements of women engineers this week and beyond. Let’s continue to support and encourage more women to pursue careers in engineering and make lasting contributions to the field. #WomenEngineersWeek #WomenInSTEM #EngineeringDiversity #TAIEngineering

Happy International Women in Engineering Day! I’m reminded of why I chose to venture into the exciting world of engineering. The engineering industry is responsible for all the technologies that we use daily. Engineers develop technical solutions to world challenges, improving the lives of people all over the world. As exciting as this might be, the engineering industry still has a shortage of the people who make up more than half of the world’s population. Having more women in engineering will bring diversity and inclusion in the industry so that the technical innovation developed cater for both males and females. Their skills and knowledge is essential in developing technical solutions to challenges in the world. Hence, why the need for more women in engineering. Today I celebrate all the women engineers that are breaking gender stereotypes, using their engineering skills to build a better world. Women who refuse to be limited by social norms but believing in themselves. The trailblazers, the intelligent and powerful women who also serve as role models to future female engineers. May this day be a celebration that engineering is not a gender industry but anyone including women can thrive in the exciting world of engineering. Happy International Women in Engineering Day everybody! Despite the progress made, engineering remains a male-dominated industry, with only 16.5% of engineers in the UK being female. INWED aims to provide a platform for female engineers, playing a crucial role in encouraging young women to pursue engineering. This year’s theme is #EnhancedByEngineering – profiling the best, brightest and bravest women in engineering, who have enhanced people’s everyday lives and are helping to build towards a brighter future. As we delve into the rich history of International Women in Engineering Day, lets remember the trailblazing women who have shaped the engineering world and continue to inspire the next generation of female engineers. By working together, we can work towards a more inclusive and diverse future in engineering, fostering an environment where women can thrive and contribute their unique talents to an ever evolving field that has the potential to change lives for the better. Celebrating Women in Engineering: Breaking Barriers and Achieving Equity June 23 marks International Women in Engineering Day (INWED), a day dedicated to celebrating the achievements and contributions of women in engineering. Organizations like the Society of Women Engineers and Women in Data Science (WiDS) Worldwide are leading the charge in promoting gender equity and encouraging more women to pursue careers in engineering. Despite significant progress, women still face numerous challenges in engineering. In the UK, women make up only 16.5% of professional engineers, with even lower percentages in fields like mechanical engineering and computer science. Report from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics further breaks down the numbers. It reveals in greater detail how women are underrepresented comprising: 8.5% of mechanical engineers 17.4% of aerospace engineers 27.9% of chemical engineers 17.1% of civil engineers 15.7% of computer hardware engineers 8.1% of electrical and electronics engineers 25% of industrial engineers, including health and safety 14.9% of all other engineers Moreover, the average income of female engineers are 3.5% more than male engineers and average age of female engineers if about 37 while that for male engineers is 42, at the same more number of female engineers occupying higher hierarchical work positions than male engineers. Women in engineering have made notable patent contributions, such as India's first-ever all-women crew flying a long-haul flight from San Francisco to Bengaluru in 2019. This achievement highlights the capabilities of women in engineering and underscores the importance of promoting equal opportunities and challenging gender stereotypes. As we celebrate INWED, it is crucial to recognize the ongoing efforts of organizations like SWE and WIDS in fostering a more inclusive and diverse engineering community. By supporting women in engineering and providing them with the necessary resources, we can create a more equitable and innovative industry that benefits everyone. Check out what we've been doing at CATCH today!
In engineering, women are in the minority at just 16.5% of the workforce. In fact, gender disparity is seen throughout all educational pathways into engineering. Of the 262 Engineering End Point Assessments that our team of assessors have carried out over the past 12 months or so, only 9 have been female candidates. So, today, on International Women's Day, a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women, we stand united in our belief that more should be done to highlight the opportunities for women in engineering as a challenging and rewarding career. But how can we target women into engineering? Showcasing historical and current roles of responsibility and experiences may be part of the answer – but what else should we be doing? #iwd2024 #EngEPA

Engineering takes innovative, analytical and problem-solving capabilities. To do this work, you’ve got to be determined, yet flexible; detail-oriented, yet big-pictured; and above all, wicked smart. That is why we’re celebrating the women behind this historically male-dominated career path – the ones showing there’s room for everyone at the table to roll up their sleeves, sharpen their pencils and help make our built environment a reality. For International Women in Engineering Day, Sunday, June 23, we celebrate them, us and all who will be; because ‘engineer’ translates to ‘doer’ – and we’ve got the ladies to prove that. #DCIEngineers #INWED25 #Engineering #DCIisMe #StructuralEngineering #StructuralEngineers #WomenInEngineering

I attended the NAFEMS DACH Conference this week and was one of the only ~10% women representing the engineering community. It's a sad reality that very few women get the opportunity to showcase their work at such events. Despite efforts in many industries to hire and support women, the number of women in mechanical (computational) engineering remains low. The small percentage of women in the industry raises important questions. Why are there so few women engineers at DACH Conferences? Is this issue specific to the mechanical domain? Could there be limitations for women entering STEM fields? It's crucial to address these challenges to create a more diverse and inclusive engineering community. Is your organization making efforts to support women in this regard?
