Norway’s First Floating LiDAR Campaign Completed! We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of our one-year wind and metocean measurement campaign at the Utsira Nord floating wind lease area offshore Haugesund, Norway. This project marks one of the most northerly and deepest deployments of a floating LiDAR buoy. It endured waves over 15 m while maintaining wind data availability greater than 95% at hub height. The LiDAR also captured wave and current observations and surface meteorological records near the wind leases. We also deployed a separate wave buoy. Close to 30 offshore wind developers are subscribing to the bankable data delivered by the TGS multi-client measurement campaign, which offers significant project development costs and time savings. The Norwegian Energy Ministry expects to award three project areas at Utsira Nord in 2025. TGS is now integrating the raw data into its Wind AXIOM analysis platform, offering wind developer consortia access to this critical data.
