Time is running out to enter BusinessCloud’s ‘GM 100 Rising Stars of Business’ list. We’ve joined forces with GM Business Growth Hub to shine a light on 100 of Greater Manchester’s most exciting companies across four key sectors: #GreenTech; #digital, creative and #tech; advanced #manufacturing and materials; and #lifesciences. These are the four sectors that Greater Manchester has identified as having the most growth and productivity potential for the region. Companies can be nominated until February 26th. Fill out the form in the link. The list is open to companies from Greater Manchester’s 10 local authority areas of #Bolton; #Bury; #Manchester; #Oldham; #Rochdale; #Salford; #Stockport; #Tameside; #Trafford; and #Wigan. The ‘GM 100 Rising Stars of Business’ list will be published online on BusinessCloud alongside a launch event and will be followed by a series of four sector-specific roundtables. Christopher Maguire, executive editor of BusinessCloud, said: “We’ve had an amazing response so far with companies of all sizes wanting to be involved. “Unsurprisingly we’ve had an amazing response from Manchester tech companies, underlining the city’s burgeoning technology sector. “We’d love to hear from more companies in the GreenTech; advanced manufacturing and materials; and life sciences sectors. “We’re really excited to be partnering with GM Business Growth Hub and want to cover the whole of region and not just Manchester so would invite firms Bolton; Bury; Oldham; Rochdale; Salford; Stockport; Tameside; Trafford; and Wigan to get nominating. “As well as a launch event we’re planning to hold a series of roundtables from across the region, which will involve a lot of the businesses on the list.” Janine Smith, director of the GM Business Growth Hub, said: “We have a team of specialist advisors who can provide help on everything from raising investment; innovation; reaching international markets; building teams; ESG and a lot more besides. “We’ve identified GreenTech; digital, creative and tech; advanced manufacturing and materials; and life sciences as Greater Manchester’s frontier sectors and we want to give a platform to the rising stars in those industries from across Greater Manchester.” Companies on the list need to be headquartered or have a significant presence in Greater Manchester; must work in one of the four sectors; and may be early stage or startup. Judges will look for ambition and evidence of growth. https://lnkd.in/e584SQKn

I'm fortunate enough to be at Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce 's Business Festival today, representing The Union. The weather is bleak and while there's burley optimism in the room I've found the opening remarks as dismal as the rain. Why? Scottish productivity is dire (a persistent thorn) and, as Irene Graham of ScaleUp Institute points out, we start companies but struggle to grow them. The problem is access to talent and access to markets. If it's hard to find both workers and customers then no wonder it's hard to grow. Edinburgh's Business Festival is just in the opening hour so perhaps we'll get more good news later but the early rays of sunshine are in #digital and #international. Scottish business leaders aren't shy of either. Bloody Brexit. :( At least digital is an area I know well and get to do good in (I hope). In my experience, it's the challenge of finding time is the main hurdle. Companies doing well enough can solve that by hiring a digital agency. Lastly, even in the opening session The Scottish National Investment Bank has been mentioned several times as providing intelligence and resources.

🚀 **Three Months In: Reflections on Our New Office in Hendon, NW London** It's coming upto three months since we acquired our new office in Hendon, North West London, and what a journey it's been! Expanding into a new location has brought a fresh set of challenges, some anticipated and others not. From technology integration and brand recognition to maintaining the high standards we set in our first office, we've faced it all. Client expectations and data transition have been particularly demanding. There have been moments where I questioned whether this steep climb was the right choice—whether staying on a plateau without expansion might have been easier. But as many of you know, Ajay and I are grafters. We’re driven by the belief that the hardest paths often lead to the most rewarding destinations. So, we continue to push forward, tackling each challenge with perseverance and determination. The road to success is rarely easy, but we're committed to climbing it—one step at a time. Here's to the journey and the growth ahead! 💪 #BusinessExpansion #Resilience #Leadership #GrowthMindset #LondonBusiness Ajay Bathija
