For the benefit of readers in the UK and others not familiar with Higher Education in the Republic of Ireland, N-TUTORR (National Technological University Transformation for Recovery and Resilience) is a two-year 40 million euro project funded by the EU aimed at transforming the teaching and learning experience in higher education. The project is co-ordinated by the Technological Higher Education Association (THEA), and is an innovative collaboration involving the seven institutions in the technological higher education sector in Ireland. €40 million = $42 million = £33 million. Now that's the kind of budget I can relate to. UK seems to have forgotten how to act on this scale now in higher education innovation.
I’m really looking forward to the N-TUTORR Showcase Event in Dublin this Tuesday, Nov 26th, where we’ll officially launch the new National Digital Learning Network (NDLN). The NDLN will serve as an important platform for collaboration, knowledge exchange and strategy development. By harnessing the collective expertise of stakeholders across the sector and beyond, the network aims to support #HE leaders in navigating the challenges of ensuring educational excellence while also embracing technology-led changes and opportunities. Through a series of strategic reports, and collaborative initiatives, the network will explore critical contemporary trends and provide direction on how these can be engaged with and aligned with institutional, regional and national strategic priorities. Key network themes, reflected in an initial range of commissioned strategic reports include: - New teaching and learning models, including #hybridlearning, #microcredentials, and #GenerativeAI for learning - #DataDriven decision-making and #AI-powered strategies - Academic and institutional integrity in a digital era - Responding to global trends and changing learner expectations - Achieving sustainable #digitaltransformation I’m honoured to chair this network and to work alongside my friend and colleague Professor Lawrie Phipps, who will MC our session, NDLN vice-chair Dr. Trevor Prendergast , and fellow panelists and presenters Dr Ronan Bree and Dr Catherine Cronin Special thanks also to Darragh Coakley for all his help and support in getting the network off the ground. Together, on Tuesday, we’ll highlight the network’s vision and key initial outputs, including a series of insightful reports from leading experts. This launch is just one of several exciting parallel sessions taking place as part of the showcase. Don’t miss the opportunity to join the conversation and contribute to shaping the future of Ireland's technological higher education sector. Earlier this month, America Achieves brought together 50 changemakers as part of the Good Jobs Economy Peer Learning Community–a community of practice supporting local intermediaries and coalitions advancing inclusive, thriving local economies that create clear paths to good jobs for everyone. Our program aims to help these communities build “good jobs economies.” The convening was instrumental in strengthening relationships, building expertise, encouraging collaboration, and setting the program for the next six months of essential conversations and shared progress. This comes at an exciting time for our country as Congress passed two public policy and funding sources to support place-based local and state economic and workforce development. Also this week, MacKenzie Scott announced $15 million in funding for America Achieves work. Both milestones build on our organizational track record informing policy and assisting several communities in developing and securing federal funding for place-based bipartisan initiatives like #TechHubs. We are so grateful to all 12 GJE Peer Learning Community participating regions: Borderplex-El Paso, Detroit, Greater Minneapolis-St. Paul, Greater Philadelphia, Madison-Milwaukee, Montana-North Dakota, New Orleans, Richmond-Petersburg, South Florida, Southern West Virginia, Syracuse-Buffalo-Rochester, Tulsa. Also, thanks to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of this event, including four #TechHubs, five #BBBRC, and six #GoodJobsChallenge U.S. Economic Development Administration grantees. Participating #TechHubs Grantees and America Achieves #TechHubs technical assistance alumni: BioForward, Inc., Headwaters Tech Hub, ClimateReady Tech Hub, Tulsa Innovation Labs. Participating BBBRC Grantees and America Achieves BBBRC technical assistance alumni: Alliance for Building Better Medicine, Appalachian Climate Technologies Coalition, Global Epicenter of Mobility (GEM) , New Energy New York, Tulsa Regional Advanced Mobility (TRAM), West Texas Aerospace & Defense Manufacturing Coalition, Western New York's Advanced Manufacturing Cluster.

It feels rewarding to see research outcomes make a tangible impact in the hands of practitioners! As we embark on the second phase of my research this September, I am seeking social enterprises that: (1) Have integrated technology into their service delivery, or (2) Rely on technology as a cornerstone of their operations. If you are interested in participating or know of social enterprises that fit this criteria, I would love to hear from you. Please get in touch! #techforgood #socialenterprise #digitaltransformation
How do we improve connections in our tech support ecosystem and build on our collective capabilities? Han Ju (Emma) Yang, is doctoral researcher at the University of Edinburgh, her research explores the opportunities and barriers that Social Enterprises encounter when engaging with technologies. From Yale's halls to Europe's digital frontlines, 2024 taught me that transforming public administration requires both academic rigor and practical innovation. 🚀 This year showed us that administrative digitization alone isn't enough. We need a new understanding of how to preserve our democratic values while embracing technological change. Key moments that shaped this perspective: ✨ Advanced sustainability management solutions through Polyteia partnership ✨ Delivered keynote at Zukunftskongress on digital transformation (Wegweiser Media & Conferences GmbH) ✨ Established new cooperation models for Public Sector innovation Sopra Steria ✨ helpled launching Sopra Steria Ventures Germany togehter with Darius Selke focusing on GovTech ✨ thoughtful discussions about futureproof Europe with Götz T. Wiese Three insights that resonated most with our community: "The current political and social landscapes highlight that administrative digitization alone is no longer sufficient. We have reached a pivotal moment where we must develop a new understanding of Germany and Europe together." https://lnkd.in/ePMHPeKg "Effective sustainability strategies for cities thanks to modern data analysis - enabling local authorities to manage and analyze their data efficiently." https://lnkd.in/etNY8TsH 2025 will be about translating Yale insights into tangible public sector innovation. We'll focus on building Digital Public Infrastructure that enables Germany to achieve its national and European priorities while accelerating development goals. To my family, especially Sylvia de Jonge - thank you for supporting this transformative year. Breaking new ground in public sector innovation requires both professional dedication and personal balance. Partnerships are in the driver's seat of the Future of Education. The Future of Education Consortium (FoEC) is built on a collaborative ethos, bringing together a community of professionals focused on growth, partnerships, and tackling shared challenges. The Consortium connects EdTech innovators, educators, policymakers, and organisations to push the boundaries of education. The upcoming Future of Education Summit, on 5 December 2024 in Tallinn, Estonia, follows this same approach. The summit is not a typical conference; it focuses on real connections, practical collaboration, and advancing the EdTech sector. Attendees will gain valuable insights from diverse perspectives, learn from each other, and explore new growth opportunities. The Future of Education Summit's theme, "EdTech Beyond Borders", addresses the need to expand innovation internationally and navigate the challenges of a global, technology-driven education landscape. The Summit will include discussions, networking, and hands-on sessions aimed at shaping the future of education. Are you ready to shape the future of education and address the challenges of a globalised, technology-driven learning environment? Sign up for the summit: https://lnkd.in/dPJcMuet #FutureofEducation #Collaboration #Education #Consortia #FutureofEducationConsortium #EdTech
