For International Women in Engineering Day, we asked Johanie Botha, Project Engineer at EPEC Group what the most fulfilling thing about her work as an engineer is. June 23rd marked the 11th International Women in Engineering Day #INWED. Did you know, that women make up only 13% of the engineering workforce in Australia, according to the "Women in Engineering Report, June 2022" by Engineers Australia? Increasing the percentage of women in engineering teams brings diverse perspectives, creativity, and innovation — all crucial to driving progress and solving complex challenges. We're striving to ensure engineering careers are an attractive choice for all and recognise this as crucial to achieving sustainable progress towards net zero. 💪🌏 #INWED2024 #WomenInEngineering #STEMCareers

International Women in Engineering Day (INWED), brought to you by Women’s Engineering Society (WES) celebrates its 11th year on the 23rd of June and we are proudly sharing some of our amazing women engineers across the Group. This year’s theme is 'enhanced by engineering'. INWED gives women engineers around the world a profile when they are still hugely under-represented, with 2021 figures indicating that in the UK only 16.5% of engineers are women. When approaching volunteers, we as a group wanted to learn as much as we can about the amazing women who work for our member companies. We recognise that the areas in which they work are typically male dominated, so we wanted to not only share their successes, but also learn from their experiences and find out if there is anything we as a group can do better to support them. We'll be sharing their stories over the next few days. Read more here: https://bit.ly/3KPKoMo #INWED24 #enhancedbyengineering #celnorgroup #womeninengineering #engineers

Happy International Women in Engineering Day to all the smart and hardworking women engineers! Project Engineer Tania Bobby has worked in the field for over four years. "It can feel intimidating for those interested in engineering to explore this amazing career because women may think it's not for them since they don’t see enough representation," she says. "Women in Engineering Day showcases and celebrates women in engineering and their contributions and highlights the importance of #diversity in a field that thrives on diverse ideas and creative solutions to today’s problems," she explains. "This event creates a space for conversation between those considering engineering and current engineers they can relate to on a more personal level. Having that kind of representation makes the idea of becoming an #engineer feel attainable. Creating that atmosphere and providing that encouragement is why I believe “Women in Engineering Day” is important," she states. #WomenInEngineering #WomenEngineers Read more about how our engineers help others in their projects: https://ow.ly/1iGq50Sb3zC

🎉 This Sunday, National Gas proudly celebrates the 11th annual International Women in Engineering Day #INWED24 This pivotal event, created by the Women's Engineering Society (WES), supports women in engineering and advocates for a more inclusive industry. This year’s theme, #EnhancedByEngineering, highlights the incredible contributions of women engineers who enhance lives and livelihoods worldwide. 🌍👩🔧 In the spirit of this year’s theme, we are spotlighting our very own Hydrogen Innovation Engineer, Harriet Guiry, who embodies the essence of innovation and progress in engineering. Here’s a glimpse into her inspiring journey and vision for the future: Harriet's role involves collaborating with stakeholders and managing a variety of projects, ensuring no two days are ever the same. Her work focuses on ground-breaking areas such as Hydrogen Blending, Synthetic Fuels, and managing the National Transmission System (NTS), which she describes as both exciting and dynamic. Harriet’s journey into engineering began with a love for problem-solving and a degree in Energy and Environmental Engineering from the University of Sheffield. Encouraged by female engineers she met along the way, Harriet was inspired to pursue a career where her skills and passion could thrive. She highlights the importance of continuous learning and networking, noting how these aspects make her job at National Gas deeply fulfilling. Looking ahead, Harriet sees a promising future for women in engineering but acknowledges there is still work to be done. She says “The goal is to reach a point where engineering is seen without a gender qualifier. Progress continues, but we must start with children, giving them role models in any profession, so they never question if they can do something but instead ask why wouldn’t they?” Harriet advises young women considering engineering careers to seize every opportunity. "All it takes is 30 seconds of courage to change your path," she says. "Keep learning and remember you’ve earned your place." As we celebrate #INWED24, let’s acknowledge the remarkable contributions of women engineers and inspire the next generation to enhance our world through engineering. 💪 #WomenInEngineering #EnhancedByEngineering

Today is International Women in Engineering Day, a time to reflect on the progress made and on the efforts needed to achieve gender parity in engineering. Women are significantly underrepresented in engineering globally, comprising only about 15-20% of engineers in many developed countries. Despite more women pursuing engineering degrees, challenges such as a lack of mentorship, gender bias, and a non-inclusive culture persist. At WiSEu Network we are committed to keep growing initiatives that attract women engineers to our solar, energy storage and EV Charging industry and motivate them to stay by creating a culture of psychological safety and belonging. #InternationalWomeninEngineeringDay #weshinetogether
