🏳️🌈 Prioritizing Health Equity for the LGBTQIA2+ Community 🏳️🌈 The latest article from Harvard Health Publishing highlights actionable steps healthcare leaders can take to ensure inclusive, equitable care for LGBTQIA2+ individuals. 🔍 Key Recommendations: Inclusive Policies: Develop and implement policies that explicitly protect and support LGBTQIA2+ patients and staff, fostering a safe and welcoming environment. Cultural Competency Training: Regularly train healthcare providers on the unique health needs and challenges faced by the LGBTQIA2+ community to ensure compassionate and informed care. Data Collection: Collect and analyze data on LGBTQIA2+ health outcomes to identify disparities and track progress in achieving health equity. Community Engagement: Partner with LGBTQIA2+ organizations to better understand community needs and co-create effective health interventions. NEWS: World Health Assembly endorses resolution on social participation At the recent 77th #WorldHealthAssembly, Member States endorsed a resolution to implement, strengthen and sustain regular and meaningful social participation in decision-making processes for health. Social participation means empowering people, communities and civil society through inclusive participation in decision-making processes that affect health across the policy cycle and at all levels of the system. This is important news for patient advocacy and patient engagement and we are pleased to see progress in this area on a worldwide scale. New #ManattOnHealth Insight by Eboné Carrington: Health equity can no longer be an afterthought or additive to program planning. While many populations experience inequities in access to adequate housing, food, education and other vital needs nationwide, racial and ethnic inequities in the health care delivery system are particularly prevalent in Massachusetts. Manatt Health's new Health Equity Action Plan and Toolkit—created in partnership with the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation—provide a proposed organizing structure, process and set of practical steps for organizations in the health care delivery system to deploy to achieve their #healthequity goals.
