We’re proud to have donated over $65,000 through our giveback program for valued organizations both locally and globally in 2023. These programs include our Chefs Collection where we partner with award-winning chefs to craft incredible coffees for great causes, our Cup For A Cause program where we donate $1 from every pour-over coffee sold at cafes, and our Seasonal Campaigns where we make a 5% pledge to give back to the producers of the core coffee in each blend. I found it encouraging to read the latest Donor Pulse report from Enthuse, for a few reasons: 🔆 More people are donating: 75% of people surveyed have donated to charities within the last three months, which is the highest figure since 2022. This is, of course, set against the difficult backdrop of the cost-of-living crisis and the report considers the ongoing impact. 🔆 Public trust: Charities were the most trusted institution by far, with 73% of people having a moderate or high trust in charities. This ties into concerns about 'fake news'. 48% of those surveyed don’t trust what they hear about charities in traditional media and 50% don’t trust what celebrities say about charities they support. In contrast, 73% of people trust what they see posted directly by charities. Hopefully this will offer charities confidence in putting their messages out there and engaging with supporters.

For years we have been advocating that Foreign Currency Fundraising works. All it takes is a single coin to help your neighbours! As mentioned by CanadaHelps and Food Banks Mississauga, a donation of a single dollar can provide a meal. That means that a single coin from so many different countries would provide one meal (or more): €1.00 or €2.00 (EUR - Euro) £1.00 or £2.00 (GBP - British Pound) 1.00fr or 2.00fr or 5.00fr (CHF - Swiss Franc) $10.00 (HKD - Hong Kong Dollar) $2.00 (AUD - Australian Dollar) ¥500 (Yen - Japanese Yen) $1.00 (USD - United States Dollar) $2.00 (NZD - New Zealand Dollar) The next time you are looking for a way to help but aren't sure how, consider your leftover foreign currency / holiday travel money. Put together an employee drive at work, tell your friends and family and put together a larger collection, or host a party and ask everyone to bring their leftover foreign cash; talk about the great times you had where the money came from. You can't use it to buy groceries for yourself, but you could use it to ensure your neighbours / friends / family don't go hungry. Any Currency, Any Amount #AllCurrencyAccepted Daily Bread Food Bank Ottawa Food Bank Calgary Food Bank Edmonton's Food Bank Greater Vancouver Food Bank Food Banks of Quebec Food Bank On Wheels Society The Food Bank of Waterloo Region Feed the Need in Durham Feed Ontario Food Banks Canada | Banques alimentaires Canada Second Harvest Scarborough Food Security Initiative Food First NL Kawartha Lakes Food Source North York Harvest Food Bank The Salvation Army in Canada The Salvation Army
“At Food Banks Mississauga, when you donate a single dollar, your donation can provide a single meal and that really multiplies your impact.” Thank you, Nicole Danesi from CanadaHelps for sharing the need for monetary donations to food banks like ours as we continue to see more neighbours in need of food support. Nicole's right - your dollars allows us to provide MORE food that includes culturally-appropriate and fresh food. As we wrap up National Volunteer Week (April 21 – 27), it's important to recognize all the individuals who help charities through their generous donations of time. It's estimated that 60+ million people volunteer more than 4 billion hours annually. While many are motivated to volunteer, we sometimes hit roadblocks or challenges to achieve this objective. Among them is finding the “extra” time to donate. Overcome this and other barriers by considering the following tips when making a volunteer choice: https://bit.ly/3Wo1asO #community #BBB

A few years ago, DonationScout set out to streamline restaurant fundraisers even more with a new ePayments system. We aimed to simplify the payment process with seamless online transactions. However, we discovered that while restaurants wanted online payments, fundraiser organizations preferred traditional checks, despite initially expressing a preference for electronic donations. This aligns with Henry Ford's insight: "If I would have asked people what they wanted, they would have said a faster horse." Often, consumers don’t know what they truly need. This led us to pivot. DonationScout is now acts as an intermediary, allowing restaurants to process payments online, while ensuring fundraiser organizations received physical checks. This experience highlights the importance of iteration in product development. At DonationScout, we embrace challenges as opportunities to innovate and better serve our partners in the community fundraising landscape.
DonationScout: Your AP team's newest crush 😍 📢 Announcing donation processing for DonationScout. You (the restaurant) send the event donation to us electronically, we cut the check. It's that simple. Schedule a demo here: https://lnkd.in/gNdGQazm

A few sobering stats from the "Household Food Insecurity in Canada, 2022"◽ report: ◾ 22.9% of households in Newfoundland and Labrador experienced some degree of food insecurity in the previous 12 months, amounting to 116,000 people. ◾ This is the highest rate in any of the ten provinces in Canada. ◾ 28.8% of children under 18 in Newfoundland and Labrador lived in food-insecure households. Since 2022, NLCU has held its annual NLCU Fall Food Drive to help support individuals and families in Newfoundland and Labrador who experience food insecurity to get the nourishment they need. Please donate if you can. Between now and October 31, drop by your local NLCU branch to make a donation. ------ ◽ Li T, Fafard St-Germain AA, Tarasuk V.
