Nordex Group Secures 197 MW Orders from UKA in Germany The Nordex Group secured orders for 197,1 MW from wind and solar park developer UKA in December 2023. For seven wind energy projects, Nordex will provide 32 turbines of the Delta4000 series to areas across Germany, including Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Saxony-Anhalt, Schleswig-Holstein and North Rhine-Westphalia.  Once commissioned, the Nordex Group will also provide service and maintenance of the turbines for 20 years.  UKA has placed an order for different turbine types for the projects: N133/4800, N149/5.X, N163/5.X and N163/6.X. GE Vernova has signed a framework agreement with Forestalia to deliver up to 693MW of onshore wind turbines across several future project sites in Spain. GE will deploy the wind turbines in six phases near Zaragoza. The first phase is underway with 33 wind turbines to be installed at five wind farms. All deliveries are anticipated to be completed by the end of next year. Last year, GE Renewable Energy signed a European power purchase agreement (PPA) from a new wind farm in Spain with Forestalia. Through the PPA, GE Renewable Energy aimed to source clean energy that corresponds to over 60% of its facilities' electricity consumption in Europe. Meet the highlights of the month of the Lithuanian #windenergy sector. 👉 Historic day – 11th of March. On this day, Lithuania generated more electricity than it consumed for the first time since 2009. According to Litgrid data, on that day, the country generated 31.8 GWh of electricity, while the country's total consumption was 29.77 GWh. Wind power plants generated 20.65 GWh (64.9%) of the country's electricity! Solar farms 4.39 GWh (13.8%), other renewable energy sources 3.52 GWh (11.1%), and other power plants 3.24 GWh (10.2%). 👉 New turbines under construction. The first wind turbines have gone up at the largest wind park in Lithuania of Enefit Green. The Kelmė I wind park will consist of a total of 14 #Nordex wind turbines, which will generate around 270 GWh of electricity per year. 👉 Litgrid has reserved 3.4 GW of capacity for solar, wind and storage plants in 3 months. Taking into account the applications duly submitted and processed during the application cycle from 7 December to 6 March, 3,360 MW of capacity has been reserved on the transmission grid for renewable energy projects. The capacity reserved for wind turbines is 596 MW. 👉 Elektrum Lietuva wind park. The energy solutions company has announced about its second planned wind park this year. The company will build a 20 MW wind park in the Panevėžys district. The wind park will be equipped with 3 or 4 wind turbines with a total capacity of 20 MW. It is expected to be operational in 2026 and will generate 70,000 MWh of electricity per year. 👉 Collecting data. Ignitis Renewables continues the development of the first offshore wind park in the Baltic States by taking the wind and hydro-meteorological measurements needed for the project. A floating measurement station with specialized equipment has been brought to the site of the future park and secured. The measuring station will provide real-time environmental monitoring data on prevailing wind speeds and other hydrometeorological parameters such as wave height, current direction and speed, air and water temperature and bat activity in the area of the marine park. #windenergy #sectornews #electricity #lvea #greenenergy

Hungary-based BIG MEGA Renewable Energy has secured a €93 million financing package to build and operate the 102 MW Urleasca onshore wind farm in Romania. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) came on board to lend over €46 million as part of the project financing package for the Romanian wind farm. “The signing of the financial agreement for Urleasca Wind Farm is a great milestone and part of a far-reaching strategic move by BIG Mega Renewable Energy to grow its activity in Romania and the Balkans,” explained Eran Davidi, CEO of BIG MEGA Renewable Energy. “This project marks a major step on Romania’s path to green energy transition and I’m sure it will pave the way for other projects in the future. We plan to be essential part of this future.”  Davidi added: “We were fortunate to collaborate with our partners EBRD and OTP for financing the Urleasca project and I’m thankful for their great cooperation and unwavering commitment for the success of the project.” BIG MEGA Renewable Energy is a joint venture between Israeli companies Big Shopping Centers Ltd. and Mega Or Holdings Ltd. In addition to the EBRD, OTP Bank also supported the financing of the Urleasca wind farm. Once online, the Urleasca will be capable of generating 277 GWh of clean electricity per annum. Grzegorz Zielinski, Head of Energy Europe at EBRD, noted: “We are excited to support BIG MEGA Renewable Energy’s first renewable energy project in the EBRD’s region. The wind farm is expected to benefit from corporate Power Purchase Agreements and boost Romania’s increase in renewables capacity which is targeted to grow by adding 11.9 GW over the coming years.” Romania made a commitment last year to increase the share of renewables in its total energy consumption from 24.3% in 2019 to 36.2% by 2030, by adding 11.9 GW of new clean energy capacity. #cleanenergy
