And one more CCS announcement…✅ Carbon capture and storage (CCS) is one of the few technological solutions that can contribute to a significant reduction in industrial emissions 🏭 So we’re excited to mention that on the same day we were awarded operatorship for the development of two new Norwegian continental shelf CO2 storages… …we’ve also been awarded our first carbon capture and storage (CCS) exploration permit in Denmark as operator, together with partners Ørsted and Nordsøfonden 🇩🇰 The CO2 Storage Kalundborg project has a potential capacity to store up to 12 million tonnes of CO2/year. We’ll use our experience from safely storing CO2 on the Norwegian continental shelf for nearly 30 years when exploring the onshore Danish permit. More ⬇️

The energy transition really divides opinions ; the facts though are undisputed; we will miss our NZ targets whether as a a collective planet or as individual countries. We need to utilise existing solutions and technologies to prevent our hard to abate industries from releasing CO2 emissions further into our atmosphere; CCS is a proven technology, and has been used around the globe since 1980’s . It is not the best solution however , until energy storage and renewable energy intensity is developed further to support our insatiable appetite for energy and ‘stuff’, we should not overlook CCS and CCUS. Can’t wait to hear more about this exciting project and how it advances..

Equinor - CCS, unproven at scale anywhere on the planet. I know you need to sell your gas to the rest of the world to produce Blue Hydrogen, to keep the Norwegian Sovereign Wealth Fund 'topped up', but this commercial proposal will absolutely NOT HELP in reducing GHG emissions. You need to be open and honest. Can you be? For instance, what is the largest single capacity storage reservoir for CO2 storage that you are considering, ie, how many millions of tonnes of CO2 being sent each year to your 'highest flow' capacity reservoir and for how many years will it operate? Many Thanks.

Very exciting indeed. Equinor has been both a thought leader and doer in CCS, generous in learnings and investment facilitating success. Congratulations.

Do you need construction pipeline and piping engineer?
