Creating Inclusive Communities at St. Davids City Hall At West Wales Care & Repair, a subsidiary of ateb Group, we believe accessibility is essential for creating inclusive spaces. In partnership with St. Davids City Council, we recently completed the installation of a new access ramp at the City Hall’s Community Zone, ensuring everyone can fully engage in community life. This project, led by Mike and Louis, demonstrates the power of collaboration and shared goals. Simon Mann, Clerk of St. Davids City Council, noted the significant impact this improvement has had, particularly during community events. “We are thrilled with the new ramp which has made a real improvement to our accessibility at the rear of the hall. It’s been really noticeable when we hold coffee mornings how much of a difference it’s made, especially for those that use frames or walking aids.” commented Simon. West Wales Care & Repair’s mission goes beyond building—it’s about Improving Homes, Changing Lives. As part of the ateb Group, we’re proud to make a real difference in communities, one step at a time. If you know someone who would benefit from improved accessibility or would like to find out more about West Wales Care & Repair please visit our website. https://lnkd.in/ekQMSg9M #AccessibilityInBusiness #InclusiveCommunities #CollaborativeEfforts #ImprovingHomesChangingLives #BusinessWithPurpose

Spennymoor has been chosen as one of the towns to benefit and is set to receive £20 million of government funding over the next 10 years. This investment provides an opportunity to carry on regenerating the town and build on our recent £7.5 million of investment. To receive the funding, the town needs to develop a 10 year long Town Plan, setting out the town's vision and priorities for investment and regeneration, linked to the three themes of: High streets, heritage and regeneration: Projects such as the re-use or conversion of empty high street buildings, the creation of parks and green spaces, preserving heritage sites, encouraging new uses for the high street and ensuring that local people can take advantage of new jobs this would create. Transport and connectivity: Projects to improve roads and cycle routes to make the town centre more accessible, while also making it safer. Safety and security: Projects to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour, such as CCTV, youth activities, street lighting, additional policing and council wardens, awareness raising and community outreach. We want to hear from business owners from Spennymoor on how the fund could be spent to support them. There will be a drop in event for Spennymoor businesses, 4-7pm on 23rd May in Spennymoor Leisure Centre. https://lnkd.in/e4q8bzk4

Real collaboration is key to develop strategic long-term plans that truly respond to the local needs of our communities. Together we can make a difference and faster!
Not a surprise that the first question from members of the District Council Network to Simon Hoare MP, Parliamemtary Under Secretary of State, DLUHC is on the eye watering cost of temporary accommodation. With capacity so squeezed, voids and lettings performance below pre pandemic levels it’s time for greater collaboration cross organisation between Housing Associations, Local Government and commercial partners to unlock capacity. I’ve seen some great examples of this particularly in the East of England. #dcnconf2024 Rob Quayle Rob Griffiths 🇬🇧 Colin Sales Steve Dungworth Kate Davies CBE FRICS Julia Mixter (Chartered FCIPD) James Francis Julia Prichard CIHCM Paul Edwards

Probably up there as the deal of the decade. Timing suggests this was potentially underwritten as a tired #office scheme in volatile times -… not knowing (1) HSBC HQ would gravitate back to the City from the Docklands and (2) it would select this redevelopment versus HSBC’s alternative #leasing option in Bishopsgate. This appears to be an excellent example of upside profitability based on long-term team faith in a supply-constrained core and historic proven location. #commercialrealestate

Great to read this report by the Community Ownership Commission, with support from the Co-operative Party, highlighting the potential to increase the scale and impact of community ownership in the UK. We see community ownership as a powerful avenue for empowering local groups, helping them control the assets and services they use while fostering a stronger sense of community pride and belonging. Despite evident demand, there is still a need to provide more support to communities in many parts of the country so they can build the necessary capabilities to take on asset ownership. The report outlines five key policy recommendations to help communities unleash the full benefits of ownership. Read more below ⬇️ #CommunityOwnership #SocialImpactInvesting
The Co-operative Party are delighted to have launched Unleashing Community Ownership, the report of the Community Ownership Commission. Authored by Mark Gregory, Visiting Professor at Staffordshire University, the report provides a detailed plan on how we can expand community owned business in every region of the UK. This agenda will be key in reversing the decline of our high streets and town centres under a potential future Labour & Co-op Government. https://lnkd.in/eBnPGe-W
