“Are you ready for a changed world image? Forget the doomsday prophecies—the situation might be serious but there’s still hope! Nature’s own smart solutions is the greatest opportunity for our future.” This was written 12 years ago for the exhibition Tipping Points - The World’s Greatest Opportunity that we at Guringo Designstudio designed for Kulturhuset Stadsteatern in Stockholm. It was funded by Axfoundation, based on the progressive resarch of Stockholm Resilience Centre and Albaeco and had the a very simple target - to unstigmatize the concept of "sustainability". Working with frontrunners like Fredrik Moberg, Christina Schaffer and Johan Rockström was a complete eye-opener for me. It changed my perspective totally and propelled me into working for mitigation ever since. The adressed challenges of the exhibition - Planetary Boundaries and Tipping Points - are now even more relevant than ever, even though the target of the exhibition has been met. Sustainability is a vague, but yet highly valuable word these days. According to science, the challenge today is to overcome the psycological distance of climate impact; how our regional actions today affects people on the other side of the planet - or even harder to grasp - how our actions today affects people of coming generations, dooming them to suffering. We also need to understand that our happiness is not depending on overconsumption of products, experiences and wealth, components of our lifes that instead turn our society into a death spiral of positional utilites and habituation effects, urging us to strive for what the neighbor has as well as getting us more and more used to our unsustainable lifestyle. Maybe it is time for a Tipping Point 2.0? What do you say Johan Sidenmark Amelie Silfverstolpe Fredrik Moberg Peter Kollarik ? #tippingpoints #guringodesignstudio #src #albaeco #sustainability #exhibition #planetaryboundaries https://lnkd.in/dw6e78Kp

Excited to announce this Thursday 26 we will be opening our new exhibition Bridging Worlds, in Milan at the Gallery spazioSERRA. Everyone is invited to join the opening! Bridging Worlds Exhibition by XAARCHIVE Studio Curated by spazioSERRA Reflection by Alberto Delorenzini On display from 26/09/2024 to 26/10/2024 Opening Thursday 26/09/2024 at 19:00 Lancetti railway station, Milan XAARCHIVE’s response to spazioSERRA’s exhibition theme, suMISURA, is a rejection of the impulse to quantify, regulate, and measure, arguing that the path toward future innovation involves, to some extent, the ability to let go and create space for alternative forms of intelligence, different species, and the development of life in its multifaceted essence. In our human quest for a perfectly tailored daily life, we risk losing the spontaneity and unpredictability that make life truly interesting. Bridging Worlds invites the viewer to adopt a more fluid and adaptive approach to existence: by letting go of the need for control and measurement, we can open ourselves to a world rich with serendipity, complexity, and diversity. Through technology, humanity becomes a facilitator of the new future. Bridging Worlds presents the hope of a possible future and the boldness to remain optimistic in times of crisis: What if, instead of resisting change, we adapted to it? What if we started thinking about what tools we have to live in this world rather than being overwhelmed by it?

🌱 Here's an example of how a project like #LifePact can improve our daily lives — and curiously that of our colleague! #LifePact engages citizens and local stakeholders in adapting their outdoor spaces to climate change through nature-based solutions. Join Democratic Society in enabling citizens and communities to take climate action! #CitizenEngagement #StakeholderEngagement #NatureBasedSolutions #ClimateAdaptation
On my usual route to work this morning, I cycled alongside this implementation. Part of the #LifePact project, implemented by stad Leuven. Leuven is known to have the longest bar in Europe (consecutive pubs next to each other), now it also has the longest wall-garden. All along the old cemetery wall there is now an "open air museum" that demonstrates any kind of wall-garden citizens could plant in front of their own houses. Hundreds of meters of Nature-based inspiration. A few days of sun, a few days of rain, and it's good to go! Amazing work Baptist Vlaeminck for coming up with this idea, and making it reality! #NatureBasedSolutions #europe

Offering my customers the best service also involves looking at a lot of art in order to give them individualised advice. It also involves thinking outside the box and exchanging ideas with others. For example, I recently attended Art for Tomorrow in Venice. An excellent event that I would recommend to anyone interested in art plus. "Impferfect Beauty" was this year's theme and attracted first-class speakers such as Philippe Stark, Sean Scully, Mariet Westermann, Sandra Jackson-Dumont, Achilles Tsaltas and many more. Most of the events took place in the Palazzo Diedo in Venice, which has just been renovated and is owned by the Berggruen Institute. The "floating city" was an appropriate setting to consider the complex problems that beauty can bring: How can cities and cultural sites celebrate their heritage without becoming victims of their own success through overtourism? How can museums and monuments protect themselves from the inevitable impact of the climate crisis? How should institutions and artists think about and reflect the concerns of their changing populations? Underpinning it all was the central question of how the arts can unite and heal. The sessions were excellently led by The New York Times moderators. The The Democracy & Culture Foundation organizes the Art for Tomorrow Talks, as well as the Democracy Forum in Athens and other events. A big thank you to Achilles Tsaltas, President of The Democracy & Culture Foundation and his excellent team for this top-class event Have you already discussed the above mentioned topics in the context of art and artists? What role does art play in your company and private life? If you want to know more about these advantages of art, please contact me. I look forward to our discussion! #art #internationalartbridge #petrabeckerart #artconsulting #artfortomorrow #venice #thedemocracyandculture #artandinnovation

// "Museums must fully play their role in the ecological debate" // Today sustainability was a core subject at CTA in paris. An article from the French newspaper Le Monde (17. December 2023) was the kick of for the day. 🌱 Faced with climate change and at the end of COP28 museums, institutions anchored in the life of the city, are at a turning point in their history, forced to reinvent their modes of action. Reducing the museum's carbon footprint becomes essential. This subject has an impact on conservation standards, the travel of staff and visitors etc. Beyond that, it is essential to question the spirit of the place: what is a museum? What bases and validates its public action? What can be its contribution to ecological issues? 🏛️🌍 Read the article here and comment what your opinion is! https://lnkd.in/eszZRb82 #sustainability #museums #cta28 #CTAParis

The art of impact In 2019, Austrian team Klagenfurt’s football pitch was turned into a real forest by artist Klaus Littmann. It was unexpected. Striking. I remember loving the idea straight away. Trees replaced players. Nature took centre stage. It was Austria's biggest public art exhibition. And a warning. Nature could become like a zoo. Confined. Seen in designated spaces only. Nature shouldn’t be something we just visit. It should be part of our lives. There are a lot of words spoken about sustainability and the planet. But experiences and imagery like this, speak louder. They cross barriers of language and location. Spark thoughts and conversations. I didn’t have to visit the installation in person to have my emotions triggered. Art is good at this. Littmann’s forest showed us a future we might face in the most eye-catching and thought provoking way possible. It made the loss of nature real. Tangible. The climate debate needs to think about the formats and visualisation it uses to engage the world. Cross pollination of the creative industries and skills is essential for maximum effect and to make us pause, reflect and feel Because if we don’t feel, we don’t act. How can we create greater visual and emotional impact in what we’re doing? Love to hear your views and know the best examples you’ve seen. #ConsciousCreativity #Art #ClimateCommunication #Nuevo

Why should museums and cultural organisations embrace a system thinking approach? Museums and cultural organisations operate within complex ecosystems that include social, environmental, economic, and cultural dimensions. They often face challenges including: 1️⃣ Engaging with a diverse audience 2️⃣ Ensuring relevance and impact in a fast-moving world 3️⃣ Maintaining a balance between protecting priceless collections and making them accessible to the public 4️⃣ Addressing ethical concerns such as repatriation, representation within collections, and environmental responsibility. Systems Thinking offers a holistic approach that enables museums to visualise their operations and challenges not in isolation but as part of a broader system. By applying this approach, museums can: 1️⃣ Recognise how different aspects of museum (collections, visitors, staff, resources) interact and influence each other. 2️⃣ Encourage teamwork and break down department silos 3️⃣ Design solutions that consider the long-term impact on multiple stakeholders involved 4️⃣ Become more responsive to changing circumstances and emerging trends ⬇️ Download your free Systems Thinking Handbook here: https://lnkd.in/dHR58uEG 💡 This handbook is produced by We Are Museums and supported by EIT Climate-KIC CEE, in collaboration with Ki Culture 📌 Explore all access-free resources on our website:
