Associate Business Analyst at United Wholesale Mortgage

Having transitioned from a sales role to a Business Analyst at United Wholesale Mortgage; I've come to appreciate the immense value of open-ended questioning in both fields. In sales, open-ended questions allowed me to uncover the needs, concerns, and aspirations of my clients. It was beyond just making a sale; it was about building a relationship based on trust and understanding. As I moved into my role as a Business Analyst, I found a new perspective on these questions. They became a tool to dive deep into systems, processes, and user experiences, helping me to analyze and understand complex business requirements. Open-ended questions do not just seek a 'yes' or a 'no'. They elicit detailed responses, encourage dialogue, and foster innovative thinking. They're the key to uncovering the real needs and potential improvements that can transform business operations.  Active listening is a vital component in forming open-ended questions that is often overlooked. More often than not, the desire for an immediate response leads to an abundance of questions but compromises the quality of the conversation. It is crucial to listen with the intention to comprehend, rather than merely preparing a response. This is the indispensable counterpart to the art of asking meaningful questions. Whether you're trying to understand a client's mortgage needs or working to optimize a business process, open-ended questions are your best tool for success. They've been my passion and I encourage all professionals, regardless of their field, to leverage their power. Remember, the quality of the answers we receive is directly related to the quality of the questions we ask. #UWM #OpenEndedQuestion #WantMoreDoMore #Domiante

How do you think open-ended questions contribute to a more engaging and productive conversation? Sorry I had to, that's an open ended question about open ended questions. In all seriousness great post and I love seeing you bring this mentality and wisdom to IT!
