A mandate for Constitution and consensus Some are destroyed by defeat, and some are made small and mean by victory. Greatness lives in one who triumphs equally over defeat and victory. The great American writer John Steinbeck couldn’t have imagined how accurate he would be in describing the result of the latest general election in India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi created history by becoming the second political leader after Jawaharlal Nehru to be sworn in as prime minister of the world’s largest democracy for a third consecutive term. He is the first genuinely non-Congress leader to the enviable feat. He is also the second RSS swayamsevak after Atal Bihari Vajpayee to lead the nation since independence. Yet, there is an arithmetical distinction between Nehru and Modi. While the Congress under Nehru won the three Lok Sabha elections in 1952, 1957 and 1962 with almost two-thirds majorities, the BJP captured power with the help of its allies—alone, it couldn’t conjure up the majority figure of 272 seats on the third attempt. Nevertheless, the hurriedly-stitched pre-poll National Democratic Alliance (NDA) triumphantly returned to Raisina Hill under Modi’s leadership with just under 300 seats. Modi’s idea of political India has survived, slightly modified by voters. For now. For thriving in the future, he bowed before the Constitution before getting formally elected as the leader of the NDA. Read here : https://lnkd.in/g3ihsM43

June 25 - Emergency Never Again Appeal to our Parliamentarians and Politicians for Democratic Integrity and Constructive Governance. June 25 marks an aberration day in the history of our democracy, reminding us of the resilience and strength of the Indian democracy notwithstanding the onslaught that it faced on this day in 1975. Today, we enter the fiftieth year of the declaration of the Emergency in India. It was on this day in 1975, that India experienced one of its darkest hours in our cherished democracy, when the then then-prime minister, Mrs. Indira Gandhi, imposed an Emergency on the nation. As we reflect on this period, it becomes imperative to reassess and renew our commitment to the democratic values and principles of our nation and ensure that June 25, 1975, happens never again. https://lnkd.in/dpQfMruq

Signal: India – Election, Opportunity and Risk The extent of #Modi’s victory in India’s spring #2024 General Election will determine his room for manoeuvre in policy-making and chart the course of Modi’s vision for India. Watch for a March announcement marking the exact electoral dates spanning April and May. Modi has reiterated a desire to increase the #BJP’s seat share to over 370 (up from 303 in 2019) in the 18th Lok Sabha, India’s 545-seat lower house, which could secure his National Democratic Alliance (NDA) an unprecedented 400+ seats. Modi’s capacity to weaken the disjointed opposition Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) by courting strategic defections, such as Nitish Kumar and his Janata Dal party, significantly dims the prospects of effective competition. Simmering religious tensions and social unrest could trigger harsh crackdowns, inviting Western condemnation and marring India's generally favourable “open for business” image. Here's what you #NeedToKnow about #India: 1. Prime Minister Modi's aim for the BJP to secure 370/545 seats in the 2024 General #Election underscores his realistic ambition to solidify an unprecedented level of political control. 2. Modi's foreign policy strengthens India's global standing despite Western concerns over his multi-aligned agenda and particularly his ties with #Russia. 3. The implementation of a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in BJP-controlled #Uttarakhand, advocated by Modi for nationwide adoption, represents a marked shift in India's secular tradition and threatens the deeper marginalisation of religious minorities. #StatecraftInTheNews: The Mood of the Nation (MOTN) survey, conducted by India Today, indicated that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by PM Narendra Modi, is set to win a third term with a sweeping majority. However, the alliance is likely to fall far short of the "400 paar" (more than 400 seats) target, it said. According to the MOTN poll, if the Lok Sabha elections were held today, the BJP-led NDA would likely retain power by winning 335 seats, much above the 272-seat threshold required for government formation. However, the alliance as a whole is projected to lose 18 seats, with the I.N.D.I.A. coalition benefiting the most. The opposition bloc, led by the Indian National Congress (INC), is predicted to win 166 seats, but will fall far short of posing a serious threat to the NDA's dominance. In terms of party seat share, the BJP is expected to win 304 of the 543 seats, showing its ability to command a simple majority by itself. If true, the saffron party would increase its 2019 tally of 303 by one seat. Meanwhile, INC is projected to be the second largest party, with 71 seats, up 19 from the last election. Others, including regional parties and independents, will win the remaining 168 seats. The Ram Mandir construction in Ayodhya is viewed as the most defining feature of PM Modi's legacy, with 42% of respondents recognising its value. Raising India's global stature is another notable accomplishment, with 19% of the public considering it a significant element of his legacy. #India #Modi #BJP #NDA #Congress

Its quiet wrong to say reason is The inability of the Main oppossition parties & its allies to prove themselve before the People regarding their Vision & Perception with regard to various issues connected to public . Only minorities & how to remove Modi are the two visions & perceptions for the Congress & its I.N.D.I.Aliiance leaving majority people aside . Second Comparing the Nehru is not correct , Nehru run his show under the shadow of Indian National Congress run by Mahatma Gandhi & others like vallabh Bhai patel ,etc. He never constructed the Party and sailed on the cushion provided by the Indian National Movement carried by Indian National Congress lead by Mahatma Gandhi not Nehru . Hence Comparing Narendra Modi to Nehru is not justified . Reason Nehru run his government on the foundation laid by the Indian national congress lead by Mahatma Gandhi , but Narendra Modi was pivotal & instrumental in bringing BJP to this level . For the incompetence of Opposition parties both National / Regional parties , one cannot blame Narendra Modi . Unless the Oppossition comes out of the syndrome of Pseudo Secularism , Socialism and Minory appeasement at the cost of Majority , anti Hindu culture / Philosophy its highly impossible to reach the majority People of india .

Today marks the commencement of the first session of the 18th Lok Sabha in India’s new Parliament building, a significant milestone in the country’s parliamentary history. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who took his oath as a member, emphasized the importance of democracy and the Constitution. He highlighted the 50th anniversary of the Emergency, calling it a “black spot” on India’s democracy and urging the nation to protect democratic traditions. The session saw BJP national president JP Nadda appointed as the Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha. Amidst the proceedings, Union Minister Chirag Paswan addressed concerns regarding NEET, inflation, and unemployment, assuring that the government has taken these issues seriously. Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi, staged a protest, holding copies of the Constitution and accusing the BJP of undermining democratic values. Rahul Gandhi asserted that no power could touch India’s Constitution, reinforcing the opposition’s commitment to safeguarding it. The session also witnessed the appointment of BJP MP Bhartruhari Mahtab as the Pro-tem Speaker, a decision criticized by Congress for bypassing their senior-most Dalit MP, K Suresh. As the 18th Lok Sabha begins its journey, the nation looks forward to a productive and constructive parliamentary session that upholds the principles of democracy and addresses the pressing issues facing the country. #indianpolitics #politics #india #news

The BJP-led NDA is poised to form the government again, and Narendra Modi is set to return as prime minister, the first after Jawaharlal Nehru to get a third term. However, challenges remain, as the country is going to have coalitions on both sides of the government—an -opposition divide. Voters in India have now put an end to the single-party dominance system that the Narendra Modi-led BJP brought in 2014. The message from the people through ballots is very loud and clear: they will not be straitjacketed by the homogenising political project that imposes one leader, one party, and one religion. That the opposition INDIA bloc has managed to get an impressive tally of 232 seats tells the disdain of voters about the concentration of power and the thinning of checks and balances that had become normalised and institutionalised in the Modi dispensation for ten years, with the discernible shrinking and stifling of breathing spaces for the political opposition as well as civil society institutions. As Modi assumes the mantle of Prime Minister of India for the third consecutive term, he needs to acknowledge that the mandate this time is both quantitatively and qualitatively different and thrust upon him the responsibility of negotiating with allies while not deriding his political opponents with impunity.

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi's third term crosses the 100-day mark, the government is preparing to share its accomplishments in a series of press briefings. These celebrations coincide with Modi's 74th birthday, highlighting the BJP-led NDA government’s determination to spotlight its achievements. Several Union Ministers, including Home Minister Amit Shah and Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, are scheduled to present the government’s progress in a detailed report card. BJP President JP Nadda will simultaneously launch a nationwide blood donation camp and inaugurate an exhibition celebrating Modi's life and leadership. The first 100 days of Modi 3.0 have focused on a large-scale infrastructural agenda, with the clearance of projects worth Rs 3 lakh crore, prioritizing roads, airports, and ports. The government has also emphasized the Rs 6,000 crore Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana to enhance fisheries production and exports. However, the opposition, led by Congress, has been vocal in its criticism. They accuse the government of numerous policy reversals, particularly pointing to the withdrawal of a controversial Broadcasting Services bill and the retraction of plans for lateral entry into top government posts. Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate described Modi as a "weak Prime Minister" dependent on allies, citing these U-turns as evidence. Despite opposition challenges, Modi has reiterated his commitment to delivering on his government’s goals, dismissing insults and criticisms to focus on his administration's progress. With a strong focus on infrastructure and economic growth, the next steps for Modi's government will be crucial as it navigates both political challenges and public expectations.......
