After successful trials with Aggreko, the new system—featuring solar power, bioenergy, and battery storage—will reduce operational emissions by 90% in the Paddock, Pit Lane, and broadcast areas. However, F1’s latest impact report highlights that logistics remains the largest source of emissions, making up 49% of their total footprint. At the recent #HydroXPrix in Scotland, Extreme E and ENOWA achieved a significant milestone in motorsport by producing 80% of the race site power using hydrogen fuel cells. Using 700kg of green hydrogen supplied by ENOWA and fuel cell technology from Kaizen Clean Energy, 11 Megawatt-hours (MWh) were generated to support car charging, catering, and event control. Importance and Viability of the Technology: - Green Hydrogen Production and Use: The event used 700kg of #greenhydrogen, generating 11 MWh—enough to power 1,000 UK homes for a day or charge site electric vehicles over 350 times. This highlights green hydrogen’s potential to replace more polluting energy sources in large events.    - Environmental Impact: Extreme E demonstrates how green hydrogen from green methanol can be a viable alternative to diesel generators, significantly reducing carbon footprints at large-scale events. - Fuel Cell Technology: Enabled the implementation of a hydrogen microgrid, crucial for efficient energy production and use in remote locations. - Future of Extreme E: With successful green hydrogen integration, Extreme E plans to increase energy production in future events and evolve into Extreme H in 2025, becoming the world’s first hydrogen racing series.
