Being bold and unapologetic as a woman means defying the traditional gender norms, and instead asserting yourself with confidence. It means embracing your strengths, ambitions and identities and confidently expressing your authentic self without conforming to the societal expectations, stereotypes, or prejudices. To me, this means standing firm in my uniqueness, my beliefs, and my opinions without feeling the need to apologize for taking up space. A powerful way to embody this mindset is by challenging societal expectations that limit women, women of colour, women of different sexual orientations and preferences, women with disabilities, and the list goes on. We, as women, deserve all of the love, support, distinction, and recognition as the rest of the community, and I believe that once the world opens their eyes to this innate necessity, they will notice the beauty and diversity that surrounds them. With International Women's Day approaching, it's a time to celebrate the diverse achievements of women/womxn while striving for a world where everyone feels valued and included. This year's theme, "Inspire Inclusion," reminds us to create environments that embrace diversity and reject bias and discrimination. A world that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive and acknowledge different realities for different populations of women. So, let's think about how we can make our workplaces and communities more inclusive. Together, we can build a world where our differences are celebrated. When women aren't present, we must ask: "If not, why not?" When women are present, we must ensure, women are there with their diverse intersectional identities! When women are discriminated against, we must call out that practice! When the treatment of women is not equitable, we must take action! And we must do this each time, every time!
