The first Session is approaching soon on the 14th of March: Session I: The Atlantic’s Digital Infrastructure – How are we connected, how can digital connectivity across the Atlantic space be improved, where are the gaps, how can the unconnected get connected? then: Session II (April 25): How can digital transformation improve Marine Spatial Planning in the Atlantic space? Session III (May 16): How can digital transformation improve Maritime Information Systems and Maritime Domain Awareness in the Atlantic Space? What are priority risk and resilience challenges? This project is being launched as a “think ahead” effort in the spirit of the Partnership for Atlantic Cooperation (PAC), a grouping of 32 Atlantic countries, on these and other issues. This link will tell you more about the PAC: · https://lnkd.in/dpkmzWaG Looking forward to explore current pan-Atlantic digital connections; identify gaps in digital access and priority risk and resilience challenges; discuss how digital transformation can improve marine spatial planning and maritime information systems in the Atlantic space; and recommend ways governments and private actors can generate more effective pan-Atlantic digital connectivity and expand access for the digitally excluded.

I had the honour of being invited as a panelist in the discussion on Exploiting the Potential of Waterborne Transport in Malta during the Sustainable Multi-Intermodal Transport Hubs (SMITHS) final conference held last week, titled Public and Private: An Alliance Towards Modal Shift. I spoke about the importance for more research and innovation to be undertaken by Malta-based researchers in the Maritime sector, particularly to empower the clean energy transition and contribute to the EU’s goal of becoming the first climate-neutral continent by 2050. Of note, the thematic area of Marine and Maritime Technologies is also identified as a strategic area for intervention in Malta's Smart Specialisation Strategy 2021-2027. In fact, the audience present were informed of how the Malta Council For Science & Technology (MCST) offers financial assistance through a variety of bottom-up and top-down funding programmes, to facilitate more research that will develop cost-efficient, reliable and greener modes of waterborne transport. More information on the funding programmes offered by MCST can be sought on www.mcst.gov.mt or international.mcst@gov.mt

One of the biggest flaws of strategic documents, is poor contextualisation. The discussion paper developed by M&E Factory and Rosinak&Partner attempts to close the gap between CBC programmes and macro-regional strategies.
Together with Rosinak& Partner we successfully finished the discussion paper on embedding Interreg CBC programmes in Macroregional strategies. https://lnkd.in/dRYs6bmZ

Founder and Senior Consultant at CCUS Partners | Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage | Innovation, Digitalization and Business Development Director | Passionate About Customers
"The potential in Denmark [for CCS] goes beyond our own country". Those were the words of MP Lea Wermelin, when I attended the very interesting INNO-CCUS Roadmap 2050 event earlier this week in Copenhagen. At CCUS partners we couldn't agree more. Denmark is in a unique position to tackle our own emissions, but also to spearhead efforts in the EU. The winners of the first-of-its kind (in Europe) onshore storage licenses will be announced within the next 4 weeks, and these new projects will increase availability of storage sites and drive costs down. Exciting times ahead 🚭
“The potential in Denmark [for CCS] goes beyond our own country…” 🇩🇰🇩🇪🇸🇪🇵🇱🇪🇺 That was what MP Lea Wermelin said earlier this week during a CCUS panel debate as part of the updated INNO-CCUS roapmap presentation. Lea further emphasized the criticality in solving the urgent emissions challenge, but also said that ‘it is also good business’ to do so. ‘We can do it in a way in Denmark so it doesnt need to be funded by the public forever’ 💶💵💸 At CCUS Partners we couldn’t agree more, and that is why we are here. We work with European emitters and other value chain participants to tackle the urgent challenge, - while making sure it is good business. Reach out to learn more 🫵

We absolutely agree with Cllr Liz Leffman's insights on the crucial role of transport decarbonisation. At ICRF, we are 100% committed to this mission, enabling train operators to shift road freight to passenger rail services, thereby supporting sustainable economic growth and improved social outcomes. Investment in rail and public transport is essential for facilitating modal shift, achieving greater efficiencies, cost savings, and emission reductions. Our approach at ICRF demonstrates how existing resources and capacity can be maximised to meet these objectives, driving supply chain innovation and enhancing customer service while reducing environmental impact.
"Creating better places” Cllr Liz Leffman, Chair England's Economic Heartland at the East of England Local Government Association Net Zero and Climate Resilience summit on crucial role transport decarbonisation has not just in reducing emissions, but providing better health, economic & social outcomes. Reflecting on the event Cllr Leffman said: ‘I was delighted to speak at today’s conference, which demonstrated the strong commitment amongst both public and private sectors to reduce emissions and achieve net zero. Given the economic opportunity that net zero presents, it is fitting that the Opportunity East report was launched at the conference. Our economic potential, powered by world class innovation in science and technology, offers a huge opportunity for the government to support sustainable economic growth, but this can only be achieved if we see commitment to priority investment in rail and public transport schemes, including delivery in full of schemes such as East West Rail, Ely Junction and the HERT mass rapid transit.’

The scale of investment needed to achieve global climate objectives requires the support of the private sector: Luca Bertalot is in Rome today for the European Real Estate Society (ERES) Industry Seminar to illustrate how the EEMI Ecosystem can contribute to scaling up building renovations and their financing.
