Large events 🤝 more cycling! The second plenary session of the EuroVelo & Cycling Tourism Conference 2024 on 24 September will discuss the role of large sports events, such as the Tour de France and the Olympic Games, in getting more people on bicycles. 💛 During the Tour de France Grand Départ from Copenhagen in 2022, Danish bicycle culture was showcased in a way to inspire people around the world to get on their bikes for fun - and maybe become a future Tour de France winner. Cyrille Tricart (A.S.O. - Amaury Sport Organisation) and Henrik Lundorff Kristensen (City of Copenhagen) will tell us about the overall impact and legacy of the world's best-known cycling race. 🚲 The 2024 Paris Olympic Games have recently concluded, with the Paralympic Games starting soon. Ile-De-France Mobilités bet on the bicycle as the best way for millions of spectators to get around Paris, in combination with public transport. How could this be achieved and did it work? You'll hear it from Ivana C. and Louisa Soualmi Rascle. 🌈 How could a region like the South of Scotland be at the forefront of locals' engagement during the Union Cycliste Internationale World Cycling Championships 2023? Paula Ward (South of Scotland Enterprise) will explain what the event motto “Power of the Bike” really meant for Glasgow and how her region used the event as a catalyst for change and social inclusion. 🎫 Do not miss this exciting session moderated by Agathe Daudibon, get your ticket here: https://lnkd.in/eTSut_3t 👉 More about this session: https://lnkd.in/eUb3AhzY 😍 Full programme: https://lnkd.in/e4Y7X2Ra #EuroVelo #cycling #tourism #olympicgames #tourdefrance #paralympicgames
