🙋♀️ Activ attened the Surprisingly Ingenious - Austria Connect Southeast Europe 2023 conference, an event that serves as the region's premier networking platform, uniting Austrian companies with their counterparts in neighboring nations. 👏 The collaboration between Austria and Slovenia stands as a shining example of the boundless potential inherent in cross-border cooperation. In Slovenia alone, around 1,300 Austrian companies have established their presence, collectively providing employment to approximately 22,000 Slovenes. 👉 This conference served as a demonstration of successful collaboration with the Western Balkans, highlighting the need to infuse optimism into our connections and cast aside any hesitations. 💡 Encouraging the interconnectedness of shared interests among nations is essential for regional progress. It is time to not only reveal the countries but also follow up with the specific destinations of the Seminar Abroad, which will take place from the 21st of March 2024 until the 6th of April 2024.   Given our multicultural project team, we wanted to take advantage of the diverse language skills of our team members. That is why we have chosen Brazil and Argentina to be the focus of this edition.   We will start our incredible journey in Argentina and visit the city of Buenos Aires. Buenos Aires not only is the capital city of Argentina, but it is also the country's political, cultural, commercial, and industrial centre. The city offers a captivating fusion of old-world elegance and contemporary dynamism, and its multicultural charm is reflected all across the city.🏙   The city's original name was Santa Maria del Buen Aire, which is translated to "Saint Mary of the Good Air". It was named by the Spanish explorer Pedro de Mendoza when he first arrived in 1536 because of the favourable weather conditions. The name has since evolved to Buenos Aires, which is translated to "good airs".🍃   The reason why we chose Argentina and specifically Buenos Aires for this year's project is because they have developed a National Digital Health Strategy to improve healthcare with the use of digital technologies. Further, they have also invested in Electronic Health Records which simplified the access to healthcare services, shrunk costs, and improved the overall quality of healthcare in Argentina. Especially with the pandemic, these investments have significantly increased and in some ways have already paid off. Nevertheless, while Argentina has great potential to become a leader in digital health in the region, it still faces enormous challenges, primarily with the digital divide and the lack of skilled healthcare workers and it will be fascinating to discover more on how the country is addressing those challenges. I’m off to Amsterdam today for the WEConnect International conference. This photo of me was snapped at 4.45am, en route to Victoria station to catch the Gatwick Express. Despite the ungodly hour, I’m pretty pumpedz And for three pretty darn good reasons too. First, I get to spend some quality time with one of my favourite humans, Smout (aka: Kirsty Palmer). Because she’s a sole parent to kids who, until this year, weren’t old enough to leave unsupervised, work trips abroad simply weren’t an option. It’s been a joy to watch her feel excited about the trip knowing that her kids don’t need their mum like they use to. Next, I’m gunna get to meet the lovely Jerome F. in the flesh. We’ve had a few virtual conversations but truth be told, he doesn’t know me from a bar of soap. Despite this, he believes in and champions the B-Radical mission showing true allyship. (Jerome, I owe you at least one beer mate) And finally, I’m excited because a whole heap of corporates have paid good money to attend the conference to connect with female founders like me. If I have learned anything about the corporate world and it’s commitments to diversity it’s that it is mostly just that, rhetoric. The fact that folks from big business are not only paying big bucks to be there but are also taking time out of their busy schedules to do so speaks volumes. Wishing you all a productive, safe and happy day. And remember, if you can’t be productive, aim for safe and happy. One can’t be productive all the damn time! 💛💙💛

🌟 Reflecting on an inspiring day at the Diversify Nordics Summit 2023 in Oslo last Friday! 🌍 What an incredible gathering it was, with over 850 passionate individuals from across the Nordic countries, all coming together to discuss vital topics of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging. It truly felt like a day of unity and belonging. The summit was a full day of enlightening conferences and intense panels. Some speakers left us with inspirational insights like Áslat Holmberg and his Sámi Perspective in the Inclusion and Justice Narrative, or learning about Amazon Web Services (AWS)'s Employee Resource Groups with Ursula Koski and Nathalie Håkenstad. (To be honest other speakers, like the one who claimed to be a minority for going to church, had us wearing our questioning faces! 😄) In all seriousness, this event shed light on the common challenges faced by all Nordic nations: the struggle with superiority complexes, language barriers that intentionally exclude international talents, and difficulty adapting to necessary changes due to lack of talent. However, it was heartening to see that some companies are leading the way with visionary approaches. A big shoutout to Chisom Udeze and the Diversify team for the exceptional organization, the moving introductory speech, and the fantastic networking opportunities. It's events like these that help us come together and drive change. One key takeaway for me was the emphasis on leadership in DEIB topics. Interestingly, the most forward-thinking companies are those that empower their employees to lead change from within. It's a testament to the power of grassroots movements. Let's continue this important dialogue and work towards creating inclusive environments for everyone. Together, we can make a difference! 💪 In the pics: DEIB professionals from Finland!
