This session served as a platform for an open and transparent dialogue, where the #WENDYPROJECTEU objectives and benefits were presented, and local opinions on wind farms were discussed. 💬 Listening to Local Voices During the meeting, the focus was on understanding the local community's perspective on the upcoming floating offshore wind farm. Their insights, concerns, and aspirations provide valuable input that can help shape upcoming wind farm development projects in a way that aligns with community values and needs. One of the key takeaways from the discussion was the importance of job creation to achieve social acceptance for the offshore wind farm. Today, we celebrate a historic milestone as our first wind turbine proudly rises above the vast Atlantic Ocean in Avangrid’s 806 MW Vineyard Wind 1 offshore project in the United States. This momentous achievement is a testament to the persistent dedication, relentless effort, and sheer determination of our exceptional team, who have worked tirelessly, day and night, since 2018. Through every challenge, we have persevered to harness the boundless power of clean energy. I personally understand the sacrifices made, from missed family moments to skipped vacations, and the holidays spent working towards this goal. It’s a testament to the team’s unwavering commitment. Once again, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to our incredible team. Acknowledgment is also due to project sponsors, Avangrid and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners. Their unwavering support, faith and guidance have been the bedrock upon which we’ve built this pioneering and exceedingly challenging journey. For those who comprehend the true nature of change, let me say this: Change is never easy. Charting a new course as the first pioneers is a monumental task. However, it’s precisely these challenges that make our achievement today even more extraordinary.

Did you know that embracing clean energy can also unveil the treasures of our past? 🌞💡 We embarked on creating a PV park in Puglia with 103 MW capacity. Of course, it was something we were thrilled about, but perhaps it’s not the most unique story for a renewable energy developer. But there's more to it. 🏛️ Our excavations unearthed historical gems right beside our plant. We discovered a basilica from the 6th-8th centuries, a vast necropolis, and relics from as far back as the 4th millennium B.C. In this case, the kilowatts of clean energy illuminate not just our homes but the pages of our rich heritage.

Thrilled to share insights from last Thursday's roundtable on local and regional value creation in Vestland's offshore wind sector, arranged by Fornybar Norge hosted by Eviny. It was an enriching discussion with key stakeholders like Eviny, Odfjell Oceanwind, Equinor, Windafjord, DOF, EL and IT Forbundet, and Fjord Base, all contributing valuable perspectives. During the session, I had the opportunity to present on behalf of Fjord Base Group, discussing our strategic plans for offshore wind, the challenges we face, and the potential local benefits of our initiatives. Some key takeaways from the meeting include: 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐂𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥  For wind developers and the supply chain, stable and predictable framework conditions are vital. Consistent tenders for new offshore wind farms in Norway, aligned with a clear, overarching plan, are essential for effective planning and investment. 𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐬  The financial barriers to developing port areas for offshore wind activities are significant. Without contracts, investment is challenging for both ports and developers - a classic "chicken and egg" scenario. Financial support for ports is critical to kickstart development. 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐞  With an ambitious target of 30 GW by 2040, Norway is poised for high activity and extensive turbine deployment. The industry must address local concerns seriously, ensuring transparent processes and continuous communication about future plans. Attending Floating Wind USA 2023, San Diego, USA. This event aims to bring together project developers, industry experts, and other stakeholders to discuss the latest trends and innovations in the floating wind space. With ambitious goals to install 110 GW of offshore wind by 2050 and 15 GW of floating wind capacity by 2035, the U.S. is setting the scene to inject billions into its green economy. But to really shape the floating wind market, U.S. players need to tackle pressing market challenges such as: high cost and risk, lack of transmission and supply chain, or stakeholder engagement. The California lease sale gives the U.S. a chance to lead the emerging floating wind sector.

Today I had the great pleasure to hold the opening speech for the Baltic Energy Island Summit 2024 as the deputy chairman of Baltic Energy Island. What a great event with more than 160 participants from 12 countries across developers, suppliers, politicians, authorities and local stakeholders. All discussing how to make Energy Islands and Hybrids a succes. Allow me to highligt a few of my key messages: - We have succeeded to make offshore wind a competitive and succesfull business, but there are still work to be done to create a society running entirely on green energy - The next steps in the green transition requires much stronger integration between countries and green technologies - Energy Islands and Hybrids plays an important part in that transition - And only by cooperating between developers, politicians, authorities, suppliers and local stakeholders can we be succesfull I am sure we as a team can bring the green transition forward
