Each experience was a blend of familiarity and distinctiveness. What stood out was how uniqueness was deeply rooted in culture and environment. However, it's hard to ignore the feeling that these experiences seemed more copy-and-paste traditional than out-of-the-box innovative. It's clear there's immense potential in aviation, and we've barely scratched the surface. How do we break free from norms and seize the countless opportunities awaiting us in the aviation industry? “Change equals self-improvement. Push yourself to places you haven’t been before.” - Pat Summit. I graduated from City University of Seattle with my MBA in Change Leadership this past weekend. Why Change Leadership? I am passionate about aviation and throughout my 18+ years of experience working in airport operations, I have observed how aviation leaders navigated the volatility of the industry. Changes included airline mergers, rise in fuel prices, geopolitical impact to flight routes, downsizing, technological integrations and most recently the global pandemic. The most important element of all these changes leads to one question, What does this mean for our people? The frontline leaders and employees are the most important factor in change management and studying this emphasis allowed me to dive deep into various organizational strategies when leading people. Shoutout to my mentors Michel A. Hodge, Ed.D Amelia Kramer colleagues and family for motivating me to accomplish this goal.
